Fun article Lou. I am sure I read it when I was in the hunt for my '93. It is interesting that they essentially predicted internal GM corporate office problems with the ZR-1, though didn't note that one of the main drivers was the outsourced engine. We now know that the guys who put it together like Dave McLellan fought some serious corporate headwinds and eventually lost in 1993-1995, evidenced by the limited production in those years leading up to the end.--Bob

I notice on the wheels there is a cover over the lugs. Can you get these covers for the 1990?

I believe that is a early 1989 test car ,the wheels are 1989 with center caps.
You may find some old 1989 zr-1 rims for sale ever now and then.
I brought a 1984 corvette when i moved to florida in 1988 for AT&T. when i saw a poster for the 1990 ZR-1 corvette i picked up a complete set of 1990
rims for my 1984 corvette from ECKLER's. After mounting the rims my 84 corvette looked like the 1990 ZR-1 poster pic ( red of course )
Had a lot of fun with that car.

I have a NOS set of rear 1989 prototype wheels with the covers. There are a few sets floating around out there.

Coincidentally, I just found my copy of the original magazine today. Still have most of my ZR-1 related mags

I also found the comparison test a year later, where they made the ZR-1 sound like it was a POS. It did come third, somewhat begrudgingly, it seemed.
