Early targa top

Hi guys, so I'm working on the top for my 1990 Z, the mounting system is 1984-early 86. I found a page on Mirrock corvette website that explains all the changes in top mounting design, and mine shows to be 1984 to early 1986. Have any of you guys ran into this? Why would someone use this early system? It fits fine and bolts up like it's suppose to, just seems weird. Kinda bums me out.
I'm driving her almost everyday, and it's a blast!

Likely they needed a top, and the price of an early one has always been well below the later ones, so they opted to change out the hardware to make the early one work.
It certainly is not an upgrade, but by the same token, not much of a downgrade as all is easily reversible.
