Just a shout out to the members and ZR-1 community. As of yesterday I have consumed the Kool-Aid. And it's from 1994, and it's competition yellow flavored.

Where are you located in the Midwest?

Yup--Wisconsin born--but now in the Twin Cities. Close relatives in the Chicago area. Consulted with Mark Haibeck on several potential cars--great resource, and generous with his knowledge. Bowling Green 2021!

Now I finally have my green and gold to honor the Pack.

Now I finally have my green and gold.

Nice! What are the details of that 911 and how would you compare the two? Classic rivalry!

100% stock except for the new set of Nitto shoes. Well serviced and cared for. Slight delam, but not too bad, seen much worse. Build sheets, window sticker, all keys--SUPER clean.

The 911 is a 78sc. Low miles, borla exhaust, pretty original otherwise. More differences than similarities(could write a book.) Biggest differences are HP/torque, and steering, build quality. 911 has half the power, from the rear, no power steering, but exceptional build quality throughout. The Z has twice the power, modern ride with a zora cockpit, and hit n miss build quality. Had a couple early C3's(427, LT-1), the ZR-1 is best by far. Both the 911 and ZR-1 are even in weight distribution which puts them both on rails. Better porsche comp would be the 928S, of which I had a 1980 ROW. 8cyl, water cooled, front placement. Both make me grin, but the porsche--mostly in the corners, and the vette--mostly on the on ramp.

Welcome to the brotherhood of the BEAST!

Soon as this COVID business lets up, we'll have a gathering of the Fast Boys of Illinois (aka "FBI"). Hope to meet you then (and bring your car!)

Paul.

Oh wow....is that a S4?? I fell in love with that body style ( and Rebecca De Mornays' ) in the movie Risky Business as a kid! But something tells me the Porsche has held up better over time lol.

welcome to the club!

I sold a '99 996 C2 a while back, now i'm in a '94 Z.

Loved the 996, just kept worrying about the inevitable motor rebuild (~$20K+)

Would have been a screamer with a 3.8 Jake Raby motor but ultimately sold it because my heart is with American Muscle. No regrets.

Yes 1990 928 S4. it is my Brother-in-law's car. i had the pleaseure of picking it up from him in Wisconsin and driving it back to my parent's house. he then took it the rest of the way home. Car was not bad and being in it for 3 hours I was able to compare it to the Z..

2 totally different cars

How so? I would imagine the 928 as being more of a refined grand tourer, more " civilized " and the ZR-1 as being the Beast it is, not as civilized but faster? I think both are beautiful designs.

yes, more refined, a bit more room. Both are fine cars, however, I was expecting the interior to be far superior to the Vette, just because we have Chevette quality interiors in on our Corvettes. but honestly while it was better I don't think it was a huge difference in quality.

Car was fun to drive. I got more people staring at me. One guy commented his dad had one years ago . another in a Toyota (or such) sedan came racing up to me while driving it.. he did not want to race, he had his phone out and was taking pictures..
