Who?s in TX that wants to scoop this up?
You guys see any red flags with it just based on pictures?
Ten owners is kinda scary. Mileage ain?t low.

Looks like it's been fairly well taken care of.
Paint looks good, tires are fairly new.
95 gill panels behind front wheels, painted calipers.
Looks like aftermarket A-Molds, look to be painted silver almost mat finish.
Lowered in the rear (maybe the front too).
Borla or Corsa exhaust.
Interior wise looks ok for a 83k mile car.
Don't like the yellow door sill protectors or the yellow radio bezel, looks like an updated radio which would explain having to modify bezel and repaint.
No pics of the DIS display, so probably has CEL or other lights illuminated.
Shifter looks a little short (and no reverse lift ring).
What's with the passenger seat not having a console control, manual seat?
Motor needs refinishing and it's got an aftermarket intake.
Not a bad price for a rare color.

That is my former '92 ZR-1.
It was black when I purchased it. Original color was red. Looks like the new owner painted it yellow.
LMAO! Small world we live in. Still nice looking and worth the price IMO.
If my bank account didn't catch covid-19 ide buy the car back and paint it black again.... LoL 😂
Nothing like my first.....
Anyway, maintenance done by Pete.
From what I recall:
Ford injectors
Ported intake by Pete
Fidanza aluminum flywheel
Aluminum radiator (sorry I can't recall the brand. Was a direct fit)
Mishimoto silicone hoses
Under drive & lightweight water pump pulley
Lightweight power steering pulley
OBX headers
B&B exhaust
X-Pipe
Oil catch can
1990 zf-6 transmission
R&D racing cross bar
Chip from Pete
Replaced rear sway bar bushings
New front wheel bearings
DRM coilovers
No spare tire
New fuel pumps and filter
ZF Doc beam plates.
Center force clutch
ZF Doc short throw shifter
Replaced ignition coils with gm parts
I believe that is it. I may be missing a few minor things.
I will try and find the chassy dyno video on YouTube. Car made I believe 342 on a chassy dyno after the mods.
Air conditioning worked and car never ran hot. I believe there is an auxiliary fan I never connected in from of the ac condenser.

I know right ....never new my current Z would be yellow and he painted mine yellow. Let alone the car of a former friend of mine!
I still remember the day I sold that car. Real nice guy flew up and drove back to Texas with it.
He turned on the power keys and nailed the gas as I looked on going back to work that day....

How many miles on it when you sold it?
Not sure on the milage. I am guessing a little over 80k.

Good eye to detail. The car has a zf doc shifter and the trans is from a 1990 zr1.
The prior owner removed the power seats from the passenger side. I am not sure why. Maybe to drop weight.
I am curious if anyone has drained the oil catch can under the driver side headlight lately.
Interior the car was very clean. The under hood could use a detail.
I believe it has new ignition coils too.

Have cheaper prices been found for a Z in the past? I have been watching sale ads on and off for a few years but never seen one this cheap before.
Karl how long ago did you sell it?

Yes but the lower priced cars always need a ton of work.
I sold the car I want to say in 2016.
The person I sold the car to had Mark Haibeck inspect the car and he found nothing wrong with it.
Not sure of the condition it is in now. It appears to not have been driven much. I am pretty sure the miles when I sold it were either in the upper 78,xxx to low 80,xxx mile range.
If anyone is interested I would have someone inspect the car to confirm its current condition.
The car has already been sold.

Sounds like someone got a great car at a great price. Hope they are here on the forum or plan to join soon. --Bob

Oh yeah they are here on the forum!
👍
Check it out! Rough around the edges, ice cold air, the only light on is the brake light. Oil change sticker reads 7-11-18 or 85,025 miles, has 83,400 miles on it. Idles at 600rpm, runs excellent! Lubbock Texas to WI, 6 hours down 10 to go. Harbor freight saved the day. Duct tape the battery panel on, all the tabs were ripped off, and screw the driver side glass top down, no wrench was in the car and bolt was completely loose.
Have a safe trip!
Does the car still have the odssey red battery?
You may want to check the oil catch can when your trip is over.
How time flies and how ironic the car was painted yellow and my current Z is yellow.

Oh, and don't forget the black 18" CCW wheels either!
😀
Your car could be my twin!

The car was purchased at an auto auction by the selling car lot. They new nothing about the car. I said to myself (gambled!) when I purchased the car, I bet they heard the rattle of the aluminum flywheel and thought something was wrong with it. Hence a $12,900 asking price. They also have a Red 91 with 13,000 miles listed for $31,000 to help support that theory. I haven?t seen the battery because it is wrapped in an insulated covered fabric box with only the terminals Sticking out. The windshield was replaced with a standard windshield. I kind of like the clear windshield. The main issues are: Driver?s window gets hung up when rolling down, the front curb spoiler is missing, the radio antenna doesn?t work. The car still has an operating low tire pressure system! I purchased it for the chassis but really like it?s yellow wrapper.
I wonder what happened to the car to need a new windshield and it ending up at an auction.
Looks like you got a very good deal for the car.
Hope it works out for you!
*Edit* I just remembered the car also has DRM trailing arm brackets in the rear and up front a bump steer kit vs traditional tie rods.

Windshield = 200mph Texas sand?
I drained the full oil catch can. Smelled like gas looked like oil.
Des Moines, IA is home today. Problem free. Yellow gets way more attention than other colors!
From WI, what can I say besides drink up!

Yes it does, especially with a set of nice wheels!
Glad to see the car back in the Midwest! 👍
Keep everyone updated.
What are you plans for the car?

Wow!!! $12,900 seems like a "give away" for a 92 ZR-1 w/ that pedigree! :jawdrop::icon_scra

To get any ZR-1 for $12,900.00 is a pretty damn good score.
To get one that runs for $12,900.00 is even better.
To get one that runs well for $12,900.00 is a home-run.
To get this one with all of the above plus some damn fine upgrades is a Grand Slam, out of the park home run in game 7 of the World Series!
Well Bought for certain!

Thanks for the nice comments! I agree!
Made it home with no issues. After 985 miles I checked the oil this morning and only 1/2 quart down. 1,185 miles total. Only Issue was noticed after washing the car immediately after getting home. Car was at operating temp. Had my first oil leak to date. I will investigate. The oil spot shown below is 6" in diameter and at a different location than the other pictures. But this spot occurred in the time I washed and dried the car. FYI
Im thinking transmission? Oil seems too black. I was parked there for maybe 10 minutes. Shifter handle on first day was hot to the touch, fine after that. Thoughts?
Difficult to tell from the pictures.
Best thing is to jack up the car and check underneath.
Would be a good time for a changing of all the fluids.
I parked over cardboard last night, nothing dripped. I took the car out for an hour or so then jacked the front end up nothing obvious again. I?m not concerned for anything besides my concrete! Lol.
The dipstick pictured below (checked cold before driving) tells me good things after 1270 miles with nothing added.
The suspension on this car is better than anyone I?ve driven yet. I ran my usual route (a well beaten path) and immediately noticed how much better and smoother the car hugged the road. Coil overs are underrated! Not one driving issue or problem light on, not even the brake light anymore.
I have to show everyone a few of the laughable, but correctable issues that made it a $12,900 car if you didn?t have the cheat sheet on the car.

Is that just grime on the cam cover? Or did they overspray on that too? It?s like they did zero masking for the paint job.

You are 💯% correct about that.
It amazes me to see some of the modified cars for sale that have not sold.
Anyone wanting to get one of these cars and set it up right for aftermarket performance better be ready to say the least.

Wow....smh.....that is one bad paint job. Not sure what happened to the cam cover.
Sand, dirt, everywhere! This car has sand in it's pants! Cam cover is the same sand and dirt as under the gas lid. All scrubbable. Why wouldn't you scrub this before selling?

The car dealership owner wanted to know what made these cars special. I simply said the engine and that there were more dollars in just performance upgrades to this car than the asking price.
