DAS trucking is picking up my Z this morning.:willy: As some of you know I am moving from Denver to Chicago due to a work transfer. My company is paying for the transportation of 2 cars, the Z and my wifes car. I've read up on DAS and generally they seem to have a good reputation. But like all things on the internet you can find some horror stories. Even here on CF. So I've taken pictures of the entire car panel by panel, glass and the interior, the odometer, put floor coverings in and a cheap set of seat covers. I also took the power key out. They say it takes about a week. The part that bothers me the most is that they pick them up with a flat bed, transfer them to a "yard", load them onto a full truck, deliver them to a "yard" on the other end, then reload them on a flatbed and deliver them to your house. Only God knows what happens in the yards and with all the loading and unloading. :( Luckily the Z is still at stock ride height, so I'll just pray nothing gets bent or damaged.
Wish her luck,:cry

I understand your trepidation. I am surprised to hear all the different loading and unloading going on. A friend had his 67 Vert transported and it was direct loading and transport from point A to B, or so I thought.

Yeah, I've moved cross-country a couple times and it was door-to-door with the cars. That made me nervous enough. Any way to have another company do the move for you? I'm surprised they want to do those yard transfers. Good luck.

Man I hear ya talkin'! This maybe off the wall..so humor me!:o
What about asking if they will give you the allowance tabbed for that Co. Obviously they got some deal going with them, right? Anyway, if they could give you that amount in cash so you could engage some one like InterCity or one of those guys? Can't hurt to ask, right? They can only say no.
FWIW, only had one dealing with transporting my Z. She came from Roanoke, VA to NYC/Metro/ suburbs and I used FedEX and was very happy. The only caviat is I was ignorant of transporting cars so I didn't realize that FedEX used independent contractors....so I feel I just got lucky as my guy was a car guy and he took alot of care with the cars he was transporting. Or maybe I'm wrong about that and FedEX screens their contractors very carefully....don't know which for sure.

Moved two cars with Fed Ex critical car transport and have been very pleased with the service. No yard transfers.
