ZF 6 Speed Input Shaft Information

So I found this from a post in 2008:


only real difference is the lenght of the input shaft.
L98/LT1/LT4 ZF is 159.5mm or 6.279"
LT-5 ZF is 190.5mm or 7.50"


Where is this measurement taken from? The front of the Input shaft retainer or from the back of the retainer (front of Transmission housing)? Looking at buy a used ZF6 speed and need help please.
