Did anyone notice the 81k mile 90' in polo green over saddle that sold for $21,500 on BAT this past week. While definitely a outlier price wise it appears to be a further signal that prices have firmed up on our cars. It was interesting that a 34k mile 90' sold for $21,900 the day before and a 19k mile 90' sold for $22,500 on 7/30.

Yeah, I've been following the BAT ZR-1 listings with some interest; in fact about the same time that I bought my '91 with 12K miles a very similar car sold for a few thousand more on BAT, which made me feel good. I have the same handle on BAT as I have here (and pretty much all other car forums that I participate in).

I really did think that the 34K car could've/should've done better if the seller had responded to the questions and comments along the way. He stated he was on vacation but IMHO then you shouldn't be selling a car on BAT at the same time. The way that format works IMHO it really does reward sellers who are ultra transparent about their cars.

There was a 92 w/25K miles that sold for $23100 a few weeks ago on Ebay; mostly stock

There is a younger crowd of people buying these cars. Also the people, including myself, who were kids 12 to 18 years old-ish when these cars were new, are now adults and all things equal have disposable income and or a interest in investing in cars.

The car is also a favorite amongst many video gamers.

The C4 ZR-1 has been getting a lot of attention over the past 3 to 5 years and I believe prices are going up.

Hopefully not too fast. I want to get another black Z.

There have been plenty of people, including myself who have been putting time and money to restore these cars and upgrade them to today's power levels.

Will see what happens.

Every time I drive my car it gets plenty of attention.

I also watch BAT to see what the ZR-1s are doing. It is good to see that the sales prices do not seem to be going down. Hopefully they will start going up a bit.

The comments regarding ZR-1s from many in the
BaT peanut gallery seem to be getting more
intelligent too?

Doug,
Astute observation!
Seriously!

Somewhat of a low bar, but; Yes, they are improving!
Perhaps some are actually beginning to recognize how special of a car it truly is.
At first, the only comments would be , oh, another C-4, yawn, .....with a motor no one wants or understands.
At least they are not likening it to a Cosworth Vega anymore.
So yes indeed, the BATophiles are beginning to catch some of the key points!
That is certainly encouraging news.

I fall under this category.

I wanted a Corvette C4, but the base model used for 10k did not feel special to get. My everyday car cost twice as much.

Insert research on ZR-1, I got the car I wanted, more bang for my buck, and a car that I think will go up in value in 10 years if I ever decide to let it go.
