After months of hunting, I finally closed the deal today on a 22,500 mile, red on red 1990 ZR-1, number 996. Buying has been a challenge, as I'm in Canada, where ZR-1s are rare, and with the border closed, I couldn't get down to look at cars myself. Bob, however, was great to deal with, and the transaction worked out nicely.

Now comes the horrible part. Waiting for the truck to pick it up and get it here. Probably a couple weeks before it gets to me, what with customs and all. But while Bob has certainly looked after it well, I can't wait to get some tuneup parts ordered, and maybe some more of the usual items that like to go wrong in a 90 addressed with on my schedule. I'm certain I'll be here a lot, bugging you all for info.

Through this whole process, I met a number of good folks in this forum. A couple of times the trigger was almost pulled, and I'm sure I would have been happy with those cars. But finally, the right deal came together and I'm thrilled as heck.

And, it's red!
As you've probably learned during your search,
the red one's are fastest! 😀

Definitely. As soon as this craziness goes away, I'll be everywhere with it.

A WHITE Z is still in primer, waiting for its RED paint!

Yeah, RED ones are the fastest!

Yeah, RED ones are the fastest!

That is why they need improved brakes!

Still waiting! Looks like it's passing through customs now.

Forgot to add the loading picture earlier on.

And it made it. Took over 5 weeks and they managed to damage the battery cover, but at least she is here safe and sound. The local Corvette guru has it presently and is giving it a once over. Certainly needed a good scrubbing after all that time in the elements, but she looks great now.

More to follow!

If red Corvettes are the fastest, then red on red must be the fastest of the fast!

Congrats Erik. I will be moving back to Ontario from the US soon. If you are looking to make a road trip west sometime, be sure to let me know so that we can hook up. I'll do the same if traveling through New Brunswick.

Once sanity returns, I plan many trips back to Ontario. We will definitely meet up then!
Thanks.
