Had a wicked storm at work just before quitting time. Drove through not one, but two hugely flooded roads. Water was coming over the hood and into the cowl vents. Water was coming out the AC vents and dripping on my feet from under the dash.
Car kept running like nothing happened. I was extremely fortunate that I didn't hydrolock the engine.
About halfway home on my 60 mile commute, the Climate Control went bonkers. Kept switching fan speeds, turning the rear defog on & off, then it just quit. AC remained on, Front defrost, fans at high speed. Controls unresponsive, but Fan Auto lamp was lit and rear defrost lamp was blinking.
Made it home without any other issues. Once home, car would not restart. Nothing, no starter click at all.
After sitting a few hours, I went out to try again.
Car started right up, all Climate controls working again. Everything working.
This Submarine ZR1 is always surprising me. This is one tough car!
Great story. Great car.
Would have been even better with pictures. :)

Luckily you stayed above the Z?s crush depth.
Probably wouldn?t hurt to check the engine valley to make sure the starter stayed dry.

Ran a length of clear tubing as far as I could into the valley When the car wouldn't start. Came up dry and I couldn't suck anything out. Cleaned the drain tube a couple of months ago.
Also checked the oil to make sure it wasn't milky, so looks like no water ingestion.

Think you should put air dryers in your car and under hood for a few days?

I did the same in my 2006 Civic, had no other choice but to drive through about 2 feet of water.....car was fine for about a month. The car was bulletproof until that point. After that the motor seized on my way home from work. That was that..... You got VERY lucky, I just hope you don't have any issues down the road.

We re-grease everything on the four-wheel-drives after driving through deep water.

MOST of the electrical connections are Weather Pac (or the like), except several ground attachments. Really vulnerable is the air intake and space under the plenum, fan motors, headlight and marker light connections...
I've never done that with my Z, but several occasions in my Jeep Cherokee. It was well worth it to take an afternoon and open every connector and switch/relay and terminal panel. Always found some water in places where I either was surprised it got in, or stuff like motors or housing (windshield wiper housings, etc) where water got in. (My worst experience was after pressure washing under the hood and the temperatures dipping below freezing while the car was parked at the airport when I was on biz a couple days. But, that's another story!)

All has been dried out.
Water drained from the engine valley via the drain tube. I had just cleaned that a couple of months ago.
Been driving everyday since the submergence, about 120 miles a day (my commute).
Was on the Dyno this past Saturday.
No issues. Everything works.

Excellent news. And a memorable adventure.
