Late last year, I rebuilt a 4 Bose amplifiers and replaced the individual speakers with new Bose items.
Radio worked great for a few months, the just stopped altogether.

Since it was broke, I decided to update the system.
Parts used:
Head Unit: Pioneer DMH-2550NEX
Powered Sub: Pioneer TS-WX130DA
Backup Camera: Pioneer ND-BC8
Speakers: stock Bose units
Of course, the major install issues were getting the old tuner out from under the passenger side dash and trying to find room for the Metra adapting wiring harness. The Metra harness is made for all years and it's super long to reach the newer C4's with the tuner behind the pass seat.
I cut what I could, but the coax antenna lead and coax speaker lines couldn't be shortened.
The head unit fits with minimum clearance cuts in the back of the old radio opening. It does have a detachable screen, but I couldn't find enough room anywhere else to put the tuner section.
Otherwise, fits the radio bezel opening perfectly.
The sub is small, so its in the right rear corner of the back compartment.
Backup camera is centered above the tag.

Great job! A few Wazoo guys went with similar solution - Pioneer AVIC or NEX head units depending on what year the mod was done. Use of Metra harness implies you kept Bose amps. Right?

Yes, I kept the original Bose Speaker system, since I just rebuilt them last year.

After accouple of weeks with this radio, I found it difficult to make any adjustments (volume, source, etc) while driving. Small buttons and touch screen required talking my eyes off the road.
So, I picked up this:

Fairly easy install, but the instructions are severely lacking detail and programming instructions. Also looks pretty hokey on the steering wheel, but it works.
One day I'll attempt the steering wheel swap I read about here or CF (that sounds pretty hard & expensive), but until then this will do.

That steering wheel control is cool.

What is this steering wheel swap you read about?

The swap was a long thread on CF in the C4 forum. I believe it was around 2014 or so.
I also think I saw some posts from you...?.

Anyway, someone was swapping a 00-02 Camaro wheel, with audio controls, and a 99 Monte Carlo air bag into either a 90 or 91 C4.
He tried several combinations of things (I don't recall the details) and was having a hard time with the clockspring.

Really like the look of the C6 ZR1 wheel. Wonder what it would take to do that swap...?.

Upper steering shaft the wheel and the C6 clock spring. Air bag probably will not work though.. the C6 wheel was also in the Malibu and several other cars
