Good morning guys, I am having an intermittent code 31on my 1990Z, it doesn't seem to affect the way the engine runs other than no secondaries. When I unhook the battery ground it goes away and runs great. I checked the FSM and for intermittent says to check section B.
I checked Jerry's, and he does not show a listing for a cam sensor, would you guys know where to find one? Part seems to be superceded. Something about new part has wrong shield. Can old shield be used on new sensor maybe?
I just got done cleaning connections and I'm going on a drive now, see what happens, thanks for any info.

I had this happen on my 92Z. Still haven't fixed it. I pulled it and replaced it with another one and it ran horribly. I put the old one back it and it ran better but it won't accelerate. I've been real busy with another Z but plan to get back to it.

Hi Roy, I cleaned the connector and drove it all day and hasn't done it again. Driving her to work tomorrow, will see what happens. It sat for many years so I know there will be some bugs to work out, thanks, good luck with yours.

My code 31 she would just quit running when driving in town. E we oils start right back up but quite unnerving. I hope you can find a replacement. This is one of the few parts NLA that does not yet have a work around yet.

You can get a new cam sensor from Phil Wasinger on this site.. (Jagdpanzer) I and others bought one from him and it works great.

I have Phil’s prototype first one in my car. I can say there have been no issues. I was not sure he was yet building the cam sensor. He is our only hope it seems.

Thank you guys for letting me know about Phil. I have driven about 200 miles this week so far and have had no more issues. I suspect cleaning the connector helped, so far so good. The tone generator has begun to work, maybe driving her is bringing things alive. My cruse control works, AC, all lights, hatch release, among other systems. Sitting all those years was kinda hard on her, but I think she is happy to be loved and cared for, lol. I plan on going through all electrical connections and clean them up. Thank all you guys for replying.

Often times unplugging and plugging back makes things work again. High resistance at contact points. Do the simple first.
