Does anyone have any experience with having their wheels refinished? I have several nicks, dings and discolored spots on my wheels. I would like to get the wheels redone.

I had the '93 machined sawblades redone, and they turned out great.
Not all shops do machined surfaces though.

If you didn’t retire, you could just take the wheels and hop in the 777 and be in Norway in a few hours...

I had a company down west of Lancaster, PA refinish a set of 1990 rims. They did a good job. I recall they were just off of the highway, this might be them.
https://www.awrswheelrepair.com/
For a 1990, the rims can only be restored a couple times since they are turned and the reveal on the openings gets smaller each time.

Well, for one, we didn't fly to Norway. Two, they parked all of the heavies. But it's a good idea albeit an expensive one. Do you have any idea how jet fuel goes for when you have to have 200,000 lbs. of fuel?

That would have been rare. It was always very bumpy flight going across the pond.

This is who did mine about 7 years ago, my wheels were nice and need minimal machining, they did them all, and they looked and still do, like new. I went with static balancing from then on out so the front lips don't get beat up by wheel weights. Make sure you use a good installer, and be careful of LTPWS sensors.

I have had two sets done by Glenn's Wheel Polishing in Tampa Bay Florida. One full set of 90 ZR-1s and one full set of 89 ZR-1 wheels; both came out great. To be honest I lost 2 points on my 90 wheels at Nationals last year for what they claimed as minor scratches, given the wheels had mfg dates stamped in them after the car was built I decided not to fight the issue. These wheels would have easily been delivered by the factory.

I was looking at someone closer. I called them but they never returned my calls. I really need to send one wheel at a time because of cost.

Roy,
Regardless of where you go I would highly recommend doing all of them at the same time. There can always be variation of paint color, clear thickness, etc. so if they all get done at once they will match much closer.
Not cheap but less than new wheels.

Talked to Tom Barr who is the 84-96 NCRS Guru and he recommended a place called Nu Wheel out in Tucson, AZ. He highly recommended them so I sent them the wheels. We'll see how they turn out.

I had a set of 1984 RX-7 wheels redone by Transwheel:

Their Williamsport, MD location was minutes from my home. Excellent work and reasonable price (although that was 20 years ago).

I got the wheels back and they look great! Dropped them off at the shop that I use to remount and balance the wheels and they will be ready for the NCRS.

Congrats! I know zilch about NCRS. So do they knock off points if refinished and not original, and do they check that closely or owners have to disclose everything reconditioned or replaced?

No disclosures required or expected.
If the wheels are original and the finish is close to what it should be you have little to nothing to worry about.
Now, I don't know where you will find Bowling Green Air from the 90's which is required for the tires............................
Have a good time in your NCRS pursuit!!!

The Vette2vette No Flex bracing helps to stiffen the chassis and diminish the rattles.

Ha ha! Good to know they are not that picky. Not this guy, I mod the crap outta my cars and not interested in NCRS; just curious since I saw all the other nitpicky stuff they look for. Damn, there must be somewhere that sells air from the 90s; that is so cool!! I?ll look for some the next time I?m in Bowling Green! [emoji23]
