View Full Version : Odd Interior Question

Hi Guys.
Do my research before buying, and had a thought occur to me. As I’m a large framed 6’4 and wear size 13 shoes, the change made in 1994 to the drivers footwell always seemed like a good thing to me. Plus, the bigger seats, and I was comfy in a C4.

What I’m curious of is whether it’s possible to retrofit the footwell mods into an earlier ZR1. I’d love a 1990 for the original front end, but the extra space makes a 94 or 95 more appealing.

Thanks in advance,
Erik

Yup. Nice bump in room beside the clutch. Bonus for those of us with overly large feets. :)

Btw, is there an award for a super obscure question from a newbie? I gotta be in the running for that.

You have a picture of the foot well from both cars? Without carpet?

Oh according to a C4 dismantler..

No changes. Some earlier cars pre-90 will have differences in the heat shields around the inside towards the tunnel area but otherwise it’s all basically the same.

That said I know the speaker cover changed design

I checked a site that has pretty good info on model years and the changes Chevrolet made. They list no floor changes. It would take changes in the transmission tunnel to increase footwell area in width or lengthening the front floor to give more legroom. The automatic is easier for obvious reasons. Floor mats are the same with the exception of the hole for the grommet to allow the pin that holds them in place. At least Ecklers sells a set that fit 84-96.

A little bit skeptical on this, I've had 3 C4s and have been into Corvettes for 30 years and have never heard anything about 94+ C4s having a more spacious footwell.

There‘s extra space on the passenger side floor
of my car from concerned passengers pressing on the
non-existent brake pedal...😀

Actually, the floor mats are different from 94-96.

And the difference is not on the tunnel side. Unless your car is right hand drive. :)

I bought my first C4 pack in 87,I’ve been reading anything Corvette before that and have never heard of the footwell ever changing in any year C4.

I had a 84 crossfire, 91Z and a 94Z since 2000.
Footwell has not changed. Carpet mat difference May from type of carpet and 95 may have eyelet for plastic hook on the floor to keep carpet mat from pushed forward.

Thanks very much, guys.

Interesting, as I have come up with this info a couple of times, in obscure places. Then again, it’s not like anyone ever posts bad info on the internet. :)

I agree, I asked Mark @ Mirrock corvette, he is a dismantler, he says no difference and according to the other post they said the dead pedal carpet edge does not wear, I have seen it just as bad on 94-96 carpet..
