My 1991 ZR-1 has an oil leak on the driver's side of the engine. It doesn't leak onto the floor but does smell like it's burning when the car is warm. Could this be a cam sensor o-ring or possibly a bad head gasket? I am not a mechanic and would like to diagnose the situation. Thanks for any assistance in this matter!

where on the DS of the engine? near the front of the block or near the middle, back?

Hi Kevin!

Thanks for your quick reply. The leak is near the middle to back section of the block. I had my tech look at it and he was concerned that it may be serious. I think there may be some antifreeze mixed in with the oil. I love the car but hope it doesn't turn out to be a rear seal. That would be really expensive I would imagine.

Mark,
Does it seem to be coming out of the exhaust manifold?

Kevin,

It's difficult to see exactly where it is leaking. Possibly the header stud? I have been reading too many of the technical posts so there is a lot of guessing on my part. I am going to study it again tomorrow with a better light.

If it's leaking out of the header bolt it's no big deal and a relatively common problem. Remove the stud, RTV it, reapply
