Hi Guys and Gals,

New to the ZR1 world as of yesterday and I have what a few people are telling wasn't available (not here on this site). I have a CAN based ZR1 in 10U white with 223 Steel Blue leather interior. I went through all the codes on the sticker under the center lid to confirm.

Not sure if color combinations are known for all the years of the ZR1 or not?

Any help in confirming this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm reading up on these cars and trying to learn as I go. I know I will be relying on a lot of you guys for help and advice, so if I ask a what seems to be a stupid question... go easy on me : )

Joe,

I'm new to the ZR-1 world as well and there's definitely a lot to learn. I would assume that all ZR-1s would have the same exterior / interior color combos as standard corvettes - just drastically fewer combos as there were only 2,044 ZR1 RPOs in '91.

The blue interior for the ZR-1 years of 1990-1995 was called simply Blue (Leather), not Steel Blue and its code was 223, not 229. It was available only in 1990 and 1991. The Blue interior only was available on white, steel blue metallic and black cars. Other colors were deemed unacceptable for a blue interior. In 1990 there were 395 base leather blue interiors and 341 blue sport leather. There were 809 blue interiors in 1991, uncertain split between base and sport. The color restrictions were more complicated for the convertibles and available combinations of exterior, interior, and soft top. If any of this is wrong, Mike Antonick needs to update the black book.

Thank you for the info and confirmation. I corrected the interior code....

I didn’t think there was ever a split between base and sport interiors when it came to the ZR-1.

OP - Check your SPID again!! The seats are for sure 223 BUT there should also be a 229 which would be BLUE SEAT BELT CODE for the same car!!!

it does have the 229 code also... along with another code (I for got off the tp of my head right now) that referenced something else blue for the interior. I think It is 221 or 22I if I recall....

Yes 22I

What might be an interesting experience for you is visit a GM Parts Dept with the VIN and ask them to do a VIN OPTION LIST(print out) for you. They will/or should understand!

It will give you (in nearly all instances) a print out of RPO & description, along with applicable VCS codes (nearly always) for significant components, ECM, DERM, etc.

Hi Steve.... I put 2 and 2 together and figured it was you :)

I hope my car isn’t blackballed already on the forum boards and FB groups because of the minor mice issues it had. The guy did a great job of fixing it and it had no electric damage at all. All of the carpets were changed because of color match issues. The blue grey color was very very difficult to match. I have all of the original floor mats and carpet.

He had the car for just over 20 years and it was in a beautiful heated building along with some amazing cars in his collection including a current ZR1 and a Hellcat Red Eye along with 60’s and 70’s muscle cars ( this guy doesn’t mess around when it comes to his collection).

He did the carpet, replaced all 4 tires (original ZRs were on it) new stater and injectors just to get it right to sell. I think bought it at a great price and I’m super excited to say I own a ZR1.

I so looking forward to spring and getting this car out and about. Car was just dropped off today and now is in storage. Looking forward to meeting all you guys and learning.

Thanks Steve...

I guess I meant that I hope the car doesn’t get that bad rap attached to it or cloud over it.

I for sure wasn’t implying that is what you guys are doing at all. I hope none of you take offense to my comments.. not my intention 😊

I’m glad to be a part of this exclusive group and I appreciate the warm welcome from everyone.

Joe

Since the car was originally from GM Canada, you should call them up and get the original dealer info. Might help you track down more ownership history on the car if you are interested.
