For a while I had an issue of alarm going off seemingly for no reason.
Without PKE transmitter, sliding the manual door lock (not power door lock switch) locks the door without alarm being armed.
When locked as such, I would unlock the driver side door and if I had a passenger would use power lock switch to unlock the passenger side door. This process worked fine for the last 20 years until a couple of months ago.
Same process, all of a sudden would trigger the alarm intermittently to a point where I would cringe whenever I had a passenger.
When I tried PKE, passenger door would unlock with the driver side door and no issue.
So, sat in a car and used driver side power door lock and lock would arm the alarm and unlock would disarm at times but arm the system at times - strange.
Opened up the manual, looked up schematic system design.
Alarm system is comprised of door lock cylinder switch, power lock switch for arming and disarming both communicating arm or dis arm to PKE module. In turn PKE module sends the command to CCM. When intrusion happens, CCM makes predetermined decision, namely trigger alarm and might even prevent starting. I did not go further than triggering alarm so I may be wrong with starter interrupt.
Also, I realized arm disarm signal is sent directly from the power lock to PKE independent of door lock cylinder switch.
Once I fingered this out, intermittent issue, I reasoned, is due to faulty signal from driver side power lock switch.
So, I ordered a repro, new power lock switch, installed it and now works flawlessly!

Thought I would post this up in case someone might run into the same hair scratching situation.
