Feel bad for the guy who sold the bullet mustang back in 74 for $ 3,500.....If he's around still, he may suffer a heart attack, God forbid...

The low miles cars that have the right maintenance and looks, rule!
Buyers have realized that there are only "so many".
Less every day.
Well bought and sold!
Congratulations to both!

Was that 1990 David Johnson's car?

Jeff,
It is or now, or more correctly, was owned by a gent in Arizona who is a good friend of David's.
As I understand it, the car was almost sold at Carlisle, then came to Conte's, before the decision to take it to BJ was made.
Reliable picked it up the Friday before BJ began!
Husband and Wife team must have driven straight to BJ.
That decision certainly paid off.
Again, Congrats to both buyer and seller!
Beautiful 90!

Gotcha.. I saw a picture of his name on a tag for the car. Friend sent me pictures of it prior to auction on Sunday as he was there and saw it

"From The Flying Marlin Collection"......Anyone know what that is about? Guessing from someone piecing out their collection?

From the selling price, does that mean
„“the tide has changed“?
Someone had to ask...

I do not recall ever seeing a ZR-1 sell for over $50,000.00 at an auction.
While I am well aware of ones selling in the 50's and 60's, this is the first that I have seen clear that bar at an auction.

Is it a fluke?
I would say no, it is not.
The outliers do not remain so forever.

For years I have been saying that the ultra low mile, well documented and maintained cars in pristine condition will dwindle. It was inevitable. They were selling so cheap that people were unafraid to buy and drive them as they were bargains. Many of us in fact have done that exact thing.
6900 sounded like a lot.
It's not.

Low mile and crappy will not pull money as evidenced in the very same auction.

But, expect the"perfect" cars with pedigree and provenance to continue to climb to and above that mark.
Always have; always will.
As the perfect originals become harder to get and more expensive, you then will begin to see the restoration crowd join in.
Buy a clapped out Z for under 10k, put 20k in parts and 50k of "free" labor into it; get it top flighted and bingo......................
It will happen.
As it does, ones of all condition will rise from their current level.
Enjoy the ride!

Yes, it has been slowly changing.
But changing none the less!

The seller got 45 from the 50 sell price, very impressive to me especially considering its docket position

Filter out collections from BJ Scottsdale and look for Flying Marlin, some nice cars
