Working on a friends NCRS MY93 to the establish good grounding to resolve infl rest. When removing battery it did not slide out easily. It is the universal type with the unused top posts. Upon close inspection the the red positive post cover had a slot in it with the lead visible. The positive post was resting against the bracket for the ECM and cruise control. It was ready to catch fire 🔥 There is indeed some gray smoke film on the black bracket. Beware!
PS I cut off the post and JB welded a scrap piece of black plastic over it. Solved.
