Finding a brand new dual mass flywheel for our LT5 is not easy. I lucked out and got mine from Marty at a great price.
I believe even back in the day when they were available from GM, dual mass flywheels were around $1,000 a piece. I may be corrected on this.

At one time, we had 8 new Dual Mass Flywheels and sold them all for $1350.00.
GM LIST PRICE: $2,585.
I saw an eBay ad for $1859.99 and the seller had "more than 10".

I remember blowing my flywheel and the cost including labor in 2000 was $1,800 from GM...

This is like the 1950.00 dollar DIS module on Ebay. The only people who are going to pay that price are idiots or people with too much money. Those prices are well over the going rate.

Low mileage used DM flywheels go for between 500-700. In the last two years I've seen a couple new ones go for 1000-1500.

Or an idiot that’s desperate and needs one.

There are several more cost effective alternatives.

I rarely buy on cost alone. Sometimes, buying from a guy like Jerry, even if more money, is money well spent. Sometimes, very well spent.

OP,

Is this eBay listing you were referring to?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/C4-Corvette-1990-1995-Flywheel-ZR1-Manual/253417077438?hash=item3b00d5babe:g:ZRwAAOSwm9tZwp-m

I don’t think this is OEM dual mass flywheel.

Identical looking unit also listed for $1,859.99.

Not sure what you're talking about.

Jerry doesn't have these and his other options are the "more cost effective alternatives" I was talking about.

Are you "in the market" for a DM flywheel specifically? Because, there are alternatives costing a LOT LESS, if all you want to do is get rid of a bad DM...Just sayin.

Not to brag, I got a DMF for $110 shipped, when I got it it looked brand new like a clutch plate never touched it. Few years ago also on ebay got a brand new throttle body some race shop had sitting on a shelf somewhere. Found an ECM from a corvette dismantler in Miami about 8 yrs ago. Put it in my car and it started right up. Found a DIS unit and selective ride actuators from another dismantler in Sarasota FL that ZR-1 Jerry didn't want. Found the entire Delco stereo from some guy in Orlando, 5 yrs ago, and the intake accordion at Carlile auto auction in Lakeland FL last year...

Point is you just have to keep looking and buy parts you don't need and then store on a shelf somewhere. I believe lots of these parts are around hiding in someones garage. You just have to be persistent in searching for them. Or maybe just buy an entire spare car...

How much gear rattle results from this?

There are various factors that contribute to the amount of gear rattle. Mine sounds like the engine is coming apart.

How much gear rattle results from this?

With stock cams & 100 to 150 higher RPM and Redline High Shock gear oil in the trans, there is no appreciable gear rattle (@ least I don't hear any).

With Pete's cams & phasing in my wife's Z there is considerable gear rattle; a box of rocks comes to mind.

Is the rattle an issue? You'd have to be the judge. But, the only time you can hear the rattle is when in neutral idle w/ the clutch engaged.

Mitigating the gear rattle is the B&B exhaust noise. People notice the engine cam loping and the throaty rumble waaay before they notice gear rattle, we find. But, if the engine is idling with the hood up, then some ppl will ask about the gear rattle.

So...if you listen for it you can't miss it. Is it an issue? Not for either of us. And, the car doesn't sit idling much, to be honest.

I tried every brand of flywheel and matched clutch set up on another 95 LT1 I used for street and track. The noise was just more than I could take but they all had chatter. I went through all new throw out bearings. It was a bad experience for me, I even towed it to Van Dorn (when he was still with us), he could not fix it either. It went in with a NOS blue tag ZF transmission . I am convinced the trans was bad. I sold the car. I would be interested in driving a few other members car with after market flywheel and clutch set up to see how they sound and drive. I am looking for a NOS DM flywheel for my NCRS 95's as a spare for when the time comes.

Here...You be the judge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1YFa8ruh8A)!

Idle reset to 950. New injectors (replaced OEMs w/ Accel 150821 fm Summit Racing). Stock cams, full porting.
