Good idea or bad to use heat wrap on the starter ? In one way it could reflect heat , the other being that its in an enclosed area it could cause it not to dissipate heat and cause failure . Any input ?

I would not mess with Heat Wrap. The starter works fine for a long time just the way it is
If and When you have the Plenum off I would always remove the Starter, clean the Valley Drain and Dress Up the Starter Solenoid Contacts
There are some other things I do with Plenum off but the above for Starters :D

Heat wrap is effective protecting starter motors mounted close to exhaust piping from radiated heat like found on most automotive V8 engine. By comparison the LT5’s V located starter is well protected and not exposed to such potentially high temperatures.
