Is the underside of the hood a black satin or semi-flat black ? I had bought a gallon years ago from the local chevy dealer , and no longer have the can !

Mine is stock, and it is closer to FLAT BLACK than it is to SEMI FLAT.
A lot of ppl have used a silicon based "detailer" to restore the factory look. If you ever did that, you're not going to get paint to stick. Just sayin.

I have 2 1990 ZR-1's. VIN 01821 is Flat Black. VIN 02391 is Semi Gloss Black. Neither has had any re-paint, as far as I can tell. It appears that the factory changed from Flat Black to Semi Gloss Black somewhere between these two VIN numbers.
The NCRS 1990-1991 Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide page 178 shows paint should be Semi Gloss Black. I would question this up to at least VIN 01821 - I have owned this car since 2002 and it is an original unmolested example.
It would be interesting to see what VIN number was the change point!

No I don't use any spray like armor-all or any other type of tire dressing on my cars , but thanks for the heads up ! When I used to paint cars , we kinda banned the stuff from the paint booth area , the detailers were spraying it outside and it got sucked in and would cause the paint to fisheye ! So I don't use it

Try Simonize Waterless Wash and Wax first on the underside of the hood first and see what results you get . Made mine look new .
