Hello,
My 90 ZR1 has a really high clutch pick up point and although the clutch grips fine, I was assuming it probably needs a new clutch.
Has anyone had a clutch replaced at a shop? what would be a reasonable replacement cost? and is ZR1 clutch system tricky to replace? or could any shop that is handy and careful can replace it easily?
Thank you!

Just get some quotes from your local shops. The big cost is the labor which has gone up over time.

In my experience, the ZR-1 clutch engagement point is near the top end of travel of the pedal. If you are new to the ZR-1, and you are NOT having shifting problems, I suggest driving for a while and see if you get use to it. Replacing the clutch is the same for all C-4's, so any Corvette shop should be able to do it.

I had mine replaced last Spring, labor cost was $720 + parts. The ZR-1 Dual Mass clutch parts are a little hard to find.
Call Mark Haibeck of the ZR-1 Specialist, he can set you up with the clutch disc. Do NOT let someone "refinish" your dual-mass flywheel, they will ruin it.
There is a member here selling an "INA" throwout bearing, I suggest you buy it. They are hard to find.
If your clutch isn't slipping or anything (like mine), you most likely can get away with changing the disc & T.O. bearing.
Good luck
