How many here know exactly how much money you spend per year on your ZR1? Do you keep track down to the penny? Or just in a round about way? Including all the little maintenance items? I know this year I spent $3380.50 on wheels and tires alone. And another $450.00 getting paint correction.

I know I'm not going to see the money back. But the smile on my face when I ride in it is like the best medicine. It keeps you young. As far as the wife goes she didn't know when I bought the car in the first place. She kind of knows the money I spend on it.

My rule is to only remember the cost of last item bought and forget anything before that. Therefore, my Z has only cost me $8.79 (oil filter) since buying it in April 2007.

I have a binder that I keep with everything that is spent related to the car.
Guess I could add it up, but I don't. Really doesn't matter.

My buddies all say that when I pass they will be waiting in line with their checkbooks, to purchase my toys for what I tell my wife I spent on them. ;)

My rule is to only remember the costs of last ZR-1 bought and forget any other ZR-1 before that. Then I apply Phil's rule for cost of last item bought which would be 8 quarts of 10W-40 Amsoil. The more Zs you have, the less oil you use per Z.

After my Initial Standard Restorations, my Zs are very happy and rarely need anything else except a little maintenance :dancing
The more Zs you have the less maintenance per Z as long as you install the Battery Disconnect Switch

I keep a folder with every penny I spend on my cars.... My goal is to make my cars as perfect as possible first in regards to safety, then mechanical, then aesthetics. So, I guess I do know how much, but I usually dont add it all up until its time to sell the car.... If I break even, its been worth the price of admission.

Depending what needs attention in a given year, some $200 others open to cost of repairs.

I was a victim of peer pressure and bought some 18" CCW wheels plus new tires.

In the end the car looks better than ever and it has worked out well.

I try not to think about the amount spent.

Ha, ha! Peer pressure (DJ!) got me too. Just finished buying and modding these Shelbys.

Thanks Cliff! Well....it’s a long story but I’m moving to Hawaii in a few days for a new job with the Navy. I won’t be able to finish the project to install, but I will try to at my next visit to Japan on leave. Yes, I can’t wait to see them on the car too and will post.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I did not buy these from the guy selling on EBay, but I think these came from him. Get a set while you can before they are all gone.

My opinion are they are overrated and not the best quality, but for the price they are nice and look cool. The centers are heavy as hell and the paint quality not so good. I had the outer edge lightly machined by Carter (CT Machining/Carter200) and he had them powder coated (slight shade change) for me. I owe Carter big time as they are beautiful and very durable now.

The pad design of the wheel does not allow fitment to some of the larger calipers. Depending on what look and tuck you prefer you have to mess with the centers on in/out of the barrel and use a spacer. Some like them as is. After messing with fitment and look I wanted, I went with centers on the outside (front and back) and 1/4” spacers as recommended by others here. I have to replace Wilwood Lites with Narrow Lite calipers to install on the rear.

Best wishes with your quest.

Yep, this is what I do as well. I have a "folder" on each of my cars and I save all (every) receipt from my purchases. They are in date order and I'll pay extra for a car that comes with detailed receipts and maintenance records.

Now.... I don't want to add them up because I'll fear for my retirement.

I keep up with $ spent on mods and $ spent on routine maintenance. Now do I care NO and never will.
