Any of you guys know if swapping the radio will cause complications with other electronics in the car? Are there other speakers that will fit in the original space?
The new owner of our old 91 Z wants to upgrade to an android player, but doesn't want to interfere too much with the original electronics in the car.

No complications with other electrical.
Are there other speakers that will fit in the original space? Rear 6-1/2" is very popular size. However, Corvette Bose system uses 2 ohm speakers. Typical car audio system uses 4 ohm speakers and are not compatible.

I would replace the head unit with desired function such as Android and use Metra converter to connect new head unit to factory plug. These plugs are above the passenger side hush panel and under the passenger side stowage compartment in later cars.

I used the Metra converter and have been surprisingly happy with the sound.

The 94 and 95 will sometime flash SYS light when stock radio is replaced.
fOn the SYS error on the instrument cluster, the computer is checking for bad bulbs in the radio head. When you install an aftermarket receiver the circuit between the radio and the computer is open. You can fake the computer by installing two 1k ohm resistors on the connector that went to the original radio head (dash unit)
This info came from a posting on Corvette Central:
1. Buy (2) 1 kilo-ohm 1/2 watt resistors. [Radio Shack part # 271-023. They sell them as a 2pk for .29 cents.] Note, 1/4 watt work too, that is what I used -- Bob
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the receiver.
4. Connect one end of both resistors to ignition power. (Yellow wire in the car)
5. Connect the other end of one resistor to the purple/white wire in the radio head connector.
6. Connect the other end of the second resistor to the grey/black wire in the radio head connector.
7. Cover all connections and completely cover the resistors.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Interesting info.
I would try without resistors first just in case.
I replaced the radio with Pioneer AVIC Z 140BT in my 94 and did not have any issue.

Love my Pioneer AppRadio 4 w CarPlay. Bose speakers have been replaced however since the receiver is also the amp.

Didn't AppRadio have low level output RCA jacks? AVIC units give you option to use internal amp or use external amp/amps via low level outputs.

When I bought the ZR, it had already been converted to a Pioneer Avic. Believe it was a 120 or something like that. Pioneer speakers were already there. Would need to look at install manual for App4.
