What is the norm when it comes to the rev limiter on people's ZR-1's? I have been up towards 8000 rpms and never had any cut-off of any kind...Is this normal?

No. Someone apparently eliminated the rev limit from your chip. Stock cut off is a little over 7000. You can safely push it a few hundred higher.

The stock cutoff is approx. 7100, unless like mine it has been boosted to accommodate the extended power curve (resulting from porting and cam phasing).
But, it could be your tach is reading high - which is quite common as result of deterioration of the resistor voltage divider board on the instrument cluster. For example, before I recalibrated it the tach read 8000+ when in fact actual rpm was 7000 rpm.
There is a procedure to recalibrating the tach, i.e., determining the proper resistance and replacing the stock resistor board with the correct resistors replacing the stock board. However, BATEE now provides new resistor board replacements, so now a simple board swap is all it takes to recalibrate the tach.

Www.Batee.com has what you need if the tach is reading wrong. And yes quite common.

Probably your tach being way off in your dash cluster. Before sending mine off to Batee, I could literally pin the tach needle without hitting the limiter. Was probably off over 2,000rpm.

Absolutely, and very common!! ( same as the previous two said as well )
And Batee is THE place!
