I have changed my fuel filter 3 or 4 times over the last 19 years, never noticed there being o-rings either in the filter or on the fuel lines, never had a leak.
Changed my filter last week, again didn't see any o-rings, but now for the 1st time I have a small fuel leak.
Looked in Solutions and it mentions o-rings. So my question is are their supposed to be o-rings and if so are they on the lines or the filter body, and possible what size because my new $16.00 filter didn't have any included. Thanks for any help Jim

I'm wondering if Cliff isn't referring to the O-rings at the blocks on the fuel rails, near the back of the plenum. No such rings on/near the in-line filter - that I recall anyway:icon_scra...

Thanks for your reply Paul. I just looked at the Service Manuel page 6c-5 and it does show o-rings on the fuel lines but I have never noticed them. I guess I'll take it apart, see if there is a space for an o-ring and try it again. I cant believe if there were o-rings I have never noticed them.

GM# 22514722 (217-452 ACD) should get you the required o-rings @ the filter. Buy from a dealer or ACD jobber. All fuel lines and the filter are M16-1.5 Saginaw style and require seals.

I just replaced the original fuel filter on my 91' w/ 9,600 miles ( recently new to me) and can confirm they were there form the factory. Mine were in good shape so I reused them. Easy to replace if it starts to leak unlike the fuel rail assembly I just rebuild while doing injectors and top end refinish. :(

Make that # 22514722 or ACD 217-452. I did that GM # from memory which seems to be failing!!! Sorry 'bout that!!

Nice to know. Never seen or heard of it until now. Never had a leak with new fuel filters over the past 16 years and two Zs. Thanks for sharing and the info.
