Afternoon all:
I am pleased to announce that the National Corvette Museum just "went live" with the C4 Gathering Registration Page on their website. We will do a blast to members soon to make sure we reach as many people as possible, but don't wait for that if you're ready to register today.
We are still awaiting confirmation from two of the five speakers for the 2019 event, but we did not want to delay the process any longer while we tie up those loose ends. We'll work with the Museum to update the registration page in the near future.
We hope to see many of you at the Museum in May.

Not one to dawdle, I signed up for Thursday touring laps and the Friday Bourbon trail tour. Unfortunately I will have to leave early Saturday morning. I know you are very busy Bob and I appreciate all your work but just curious about a couple of items: I will arrive Wednesday afternoon at the Holiday Inn University Plaza and wondered if you were planning to have the usual pizza and beer evening at the Holiday Inn UP Wednesday night? Also, I am in for Thursday night dinner at the Oasis Southwest Grill again (no sign up needed it said?), but I wondered about any dinner plans for Friday night. The usual BBQ in the HI parking lot? Or really on our own? Thanks --Bob

Good questions, Bob. Sorry that you won't be able to stay through Saturday evening, but still lots of fun to be had.
Regarding the Wednesday evening reception, yes, it will be "business as usual" with pizza and beer at the Holiday Inn as in the past.
As for Friday night, that's a "free night"; i.e. there aren't any parking lot BBQs or dinner reservations made for Friday. In the recent past, there have been "impromptu" BBQs in the Holiday Inn parking lot, but folks that have taken that on of their own fruition for our enjoyment are not planning to be at the Gathering this year. Personally, I plan to go to one of the restaurants near the Holiday Inn (Rafferty's or Smokey Bones) Friday evening. As in the past, we'll likely do an informal poll earlier that week to see if anyone is interested in going as a group to one of these (or other) local restaurants, but it is meant to be a free evening.
Cheers,
Bob

Well I'm certainly in for either one of those restaurants Friday night so sign me up if you are putting together a group. -Bob

Good to see, Jim, Steve, Bob and Charlie. Let's keep the registrations coming. I have a more detailed schedule than the one that appears on the NCM site. I can send that to registrants once we have a more complete registration list.

Concerning hotel reservations at Holiday Inn, is there any discount code for registry members? This will be my first time at C4 gathering.

Would someone please post the address of the Holiday Inn. I do not want to make a dumb bunny mistake and make reservations at the wrong one!

Reservations made with Harrah's, Gunny, NCM and Holiday Inn. I will be bringing a FL friend named Tom this year. He will be driving his 100 point NCRS 1,700 mile 1990 Polo Green/Saddle ZR-1. He is looking forward to getting some driving time with it now.
Registered. See you guys there!

Registered today and looking forward to returning. Sad for me, touring laps are full. Anyone know if there will be a wait list?

Sorry to say we won't be able to make it this year either. Wife has a new job, and no time off work. We are looking forward to seeing a ton of photos though, so be sure to post a lot everyone!
Next year it's going to take something crazy to keep us from the 30th anniversary though. Already looking forward to it!

Call NCM first thing in the morning. I can't make the Gathering this year due some unforeseen circumstances - I cancelled late this afternoon and that should open up touring laps & go kart. Don't know if they are maintaining a wait list.

Thanks for the tip. I will give them a shout. If anyone else is looking for karting, it will still be available as I plan to take the driving tour instead.

If anyone wanted to register for the touring laps and were unable to do so due to the registration limit, please get in touch with the Museum again as we've just increased the limit from the 40 that mistakenly appeared on the registration page. There are plenty of spots left now.
We encourage people to sign up for touring laps. They are a great way to experience high-performance driving at your own pace and as the day progresses, they are an excellent way to get to appreciate a little more the performance capabilities of our cars. Don't forget also the high-performance driving instruction that will take place at the Museum at 9AM on Thursday morning before we head over to the track.
Safe travels everyone.

I’ve registered for The Gathering as well. As a local, I would recommend several restaurants on Scottsville Road. Longhorn is a good restaurant as is Smokey Bones. Another is Montana Grill. There is also O’ Charley’s. It just depends on your taste buds.

Are we required to wear a helmet for "touring laps"? First time for me and BG.

No helmet required for the touring laps. Only for the HPDI event and they rent them if you don't have one. Also you can have a passenger for touring laps but not the HPDI. The touring laps are about normal highway speeds.

As some of you may have noticed on the NCM's C4 Gathering Registration web page, we now have a full suite of speakers for Saturday, May 18. The afternoon speakers will be Graham Behan, an LT5 expert and formally of Lotus Racing and Lingenfelter Perf Engineering, and Eric Millette from GM who will speak about GM's massive investment in the Bowling Green Assembly Plant to prepare for the next gen Corvette.
As has been advertised for some time, Marc Haibeck and Jim Voter will be the morning speakers on Saturday. Marc will be doing a tech talk about ZR-1 maintenance with some emphasis on issues that emerge with higher mileage cars and the emergence of ZR-1 restoration as our cars get older. Jim (and his wife Lyndi) will chronicle some of their amazing trips in their high-mileage '94, including trips to Alaska and remote areas of Canada's North in Labrador. We look forward to seeing more amazing photos and stories of Jim having to use his special road tool kit to address challenges encountered on the road.
Congratulations to Al Hemstreet, Robert Winkeler, Charlie Sinunu and Jim Voter for having their cars selected for display within NCM on May 18. Those high-mileage ZR-1s are great examples of cars that have been well used/well driven as we focus on that aspect of Keeping the Legend Alive in 2019.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the 2019 Gathering in Bowling Green for what will be another fun week of adventure, quality time with old friends and opportunities to make new friends. Safe travels to folks making the trek this year and for those that are unable to make the 2019 Gathering, now is a good time to start thinking about our 30-year celebration Gathering in May 2020.
Cheers,
Bob Lambe (Events Chair)

For those who cannot attend it would be nice if the tech talks could be video recorded
