Great morning for cars and ($5) coffee at the Elms in Newport. Saw a nice mix of old and new, exotic and classic. I think my favorite was a mint 38 Packard. I think Vettes outnumbered all other models, although Porsche was close. I had the distinction of being the only C4 Vette, and only ZR-1. Nice conversation with the guy with the 93 Lotus Esprit Turbo. Worth the trip.

Usually only one ZR-1 at these events.
Next time maybe 2?
Great place for a Cars & Coffee!
Dan, good job carrying the flag!
Went to the NCRS Regional at Marlboro instead.
No ZR-1s entered there but did have a nice chat with Tom Barr!
Only about 34 cars entered, usually twice that number?
Some were saying car counts have been down at NCRS events?

Yeah, the only ZR-1 thing is a trend. Went to Schenley Park show in Pittsburgh a few years back, same thing. Saw quite a few in Effingham, IL though not too long ago. Guess it just depends.:salute:

Hello All, been a member here for a couple of years, first time posting. I manage the Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth RI and would like to encourage you all to visit us when in the Newport area. We are a fairly new museum (opened June 1 2017) and have over 75 cars on display in 6 galleries, World, Shelby, 50's Fin, Mopar, Muscle and Corvette. The Corvette gallery runs from 1954 through 2019 featuring 3 ZR1s, 1990, 2009 and 2019 as well as at least one of every generation. This is truly a world class car museum. We are situated on over 17 acres with a 3+ acre parking lot. We host many car clubs events throughout the season including many Corvette clubs from all over the North East. I have attached a link to our website.
I am also the owner of a 1990 ZR-1 Red/Red 17,000 miles and a 1969 Coupe since 1972.

Another perfect day for cars and coffee. This one was at Ft Adams state park, right on the water, lots of room too. Great turnout, variety of cars including Vettes, muscle cars, exotics. Been to a couple of these this summer in Newport, the Ft Adams one easily the best so far.

Thank you for the very informative posts on both the Newport C&C, as well as the Newport Car Museum. My 29 year old son-in-law is moving to Newport, RI this week cross-country from CA, and I've already passed on the C&C schedule to him, and will also inform him about the museum. If I can get off work, I'll be with him a few of those days helping out with the move.
He is a very knowledgeable auto enthusiast and is the guilty :-D one who got me into the C-4 ZR-1. One morning about 4 years ago he said to me, "There's a C-4 ZR-1 at the local Chevy dealer. Wanna go test drive it?" I said, "Well, I'm not in the market for one, but I'll go with you." That was a mistake... or good fortune... however a person looks at it. It wasn't "the one," but soon thereafter led to the purchase of the '94.
Anyway, I hope you get a chance to meet him at one of these events. He drives a nicely kept black '83 911 with ITB mods from https://rasantproducts.com/, has met Magnus Walker, exchanged emails and was invited to visit his place twice, bringing along a few friends. Yet he loves our ZR-1s too, or just about anything speedy on 4 wheels.
Thanks again,
"G"

I hit the gate there at about 7:45 AM last weekend, there was still lots of room on the grass. Filled up fast though.
Registered for this weekend too.

It was a real pleasure to meet you, Mystic ZR-1, at the Newport C&C this morning, as well as your friends. My son-in-law also enjoyed chatting with all, and, of course seeing the marvelous ZR-1s you and Big John brought. Gorgeous venue, if not the best we’ve been at!

Was finally able to get to the Newport Car Museum yesterday. What a Top Notch museum! The aura of the place - the pristine cars, The lighting, the music, the movies in play at various spots - one could hang out all day there. The stuff of both memories and dreams.
It was a pleasure to also meet vinlt5. We swapped stories and had some good laughs. Thank you for taking the time and showing me around, with a sneak peak at a few hyper cars to be put on display soon. Such an outstanding venue you and your team has put together!
