View Full Version : A/C & Radio Electrical Issue (I think)

Drove the car yesterday and everything was working fine. Needed to move car in shop today and noticed that the AC controller had no green lights on, the display had a short dash followed by 2 longer ones. The radio is not coming on either. Antenna not going up. SVC shows when turning radio on, but nothing else except the time which is stuck on 01:00.
By using the fan buttons on AC controller can get into diagnostic mode. No codes showing. Checked all fuses as good.
Is there a common wiring connector that could be affecting these?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

How is the Battery condition? C4s do wierd electrical things with bad cells etc.

When I had this issue, it was caused by a faulty AC programmer. I did however not have a faulty radio, only the three dashes in the AC-screen. They share wiring, so it could be a common problem somewhere.

Thanks Guys.
The battery is about a year old. AC/Delco. Believe it's good, but will do a load test to be sure.
I'm going to check the circuits that are common to both. Nearly seems something is not making a good connection somewhere.
I had the dash apart a few months ago getting the radio redone and cleaned the AC control buttons while I had it out. Maybe something got shook loose?
Other suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks again,

FOUND IT !!
Started taking things apart in reverse order from the last time I had pieces off of the dash. Testing operation as I go.
Come to find out, one of the wires going to the ALDL had somehow gotten pinched under a Tinnerman nut on the drivers side lower trim panel.
When I started removing the screw from this location, everything went to normal. Re-routed wire and all is good.
Don't ask what this wire had to do with the radio and AC. I've no clue.
A plan and a little luck fixes a lot of things!!
