This my be common knowledge to some but I ran across this while replacing my Halo Trim Panels recently. It was something new for me. Thought I would pass it along.

1990 to 1996 Halo Trim panels are supposedly interchangeable. As I found out that is only partially true. The caveat is that the hole for the seat belt anchor is higher on the 1990 than the rest of the years. If you look at the back of the panel you will see the hole and about two inches above it a marker showing where the hole should be for 1990 and older cars. See the photo below.

Bottom line, if you buy later model Halo Trim panels for your 1990 be prepared to drill new holes and cap the existing holes. Or, just buy the 1990 panels in the first place.

yeah, I knew that but not how far off. what is the size of the OEM Seat belt hole, I have a set of 96 Halo panels I am going to use so I need to find a plug of sorts to fit and the hole size will help, I just cannot get to my 96 panels yet

Jeff,
The hole is about 7/8ths. You will find that the hole is not round though. Looks like they had to adjust the hole with a file to get correct positioning of the seatbelt stud. This was the case when I drilled for the new hole in the exact spot marked on the back of the trim panel. I still had to file the hole oblong to get the stud to screw in. I’m guessing this was not an exact science in 1990. So when you do this test fit everything first before you reassemble. Ask me how I know.

Because of the way the seatbelt hangs you don’t even notice the extra covered hole.

Thank you for this heads up as I have one cracked halo on an early 90 driver's side.
