View Full Version : Here i go again 441ci
Santa was good to me this Christmas.
Took out my 391ci put in 441ci.
The 391ci is a beast the 441ci is a beast on steroids.
Scary fast, i love it.
Spinning the DR's at 75 MPH is just crazy 150 MPH comes up really really fast gotta pay attention to the speedo.
Gotta be careful with this one it bites and it bites hard :)
Thank You Santa!!!
Pete
PS
391ci might be going up for sale

Just can't leave well enough alone, can you? :p Having one of your 391s with cams, I don't even want to think about what a 441ci would be like.
And for anyone thinking about an upgrade, if he puts the 391 up for sale, JUMP ON IT!

HP??? We want numbers!!
Ted,i think the 391 is a perfect engine for our ZR-1's low cost and plenty power.
The 441 is a torque monster a lil too much for the street it's for power junkies :-D
Evan i'm like a big kid i have to pick the wound :)
Paul,1 full second is asking a lot i would need slicks and launch it really really hard,i'll try lol
I picked up 4 MPH with 391 over my 350ci in the 1/4 if i can pick up another
3-4 MPH with the 441ci that would get me 136-137 MPH and with some light weight skinnies maybe 139 :-D
Steve i'll try and get some numbers.

Al’s car went 160 in the 1/2 mile. I think he had the fastest NA car of the bunch and turns out he had a blown head gasket doing it IIRC?
Would agree w Jeff. Pete “probably” built the motor, ;););)but its not Al’s.

Bob,not Al's motor.
Yes,it's one of my builds.
This motor was in Kevin's auto ZR-1 also ran 160MPH in 1/2 mile and low 10's @ 135+ in 1/4 made 570 RWHP Dynojet, in a manual car should be close to 600 RWHP.

Pete said the 441 was originally mated to an automatic transmission.
If connected to (his) manual transmission...600 RWHP
Regardless, very cool and definitely pushing the envelope.

He purchased a really nice 1995 Black ZR-1 a few months ago and will be doing a few small changes to that one..

Come spring will be selling the automatic car.
With any engine package combo the new buyer prefers.
The Automatic will be staying in the car.

I want a 441! Damn that's got to be just awesome!
I want a 441! Damn that's got to be just awesome!
Rob,the 391 is freaky fast.
The 441 power feels like it's going to twist the body right off the frame :)
The 391 runs 132-133MPH in the 1/4 if the 441 runs a lil quicker that's fine but the price of a 441 is double of a 391.
The 391 is a perfect engine big bore short stroke plenty of power.
The 441 is almost useless for the street no traction till like 80mph.

Any chance the 391 is a late (4 bolt) motor?

How important IS 2 vs. 4 bolt LT5s. the cross sectional area of the much larger 2 bolts used in the pre-93 LT5s is only ~ 12% less than the cross-sectional area of the 93-95 LT5. And, Kevin's 441 was a 2 bolt LT5 that ran in the low 10s w/o breaking anything.
The lower end of the LT5 with its molded in mains and Ladder lower with fitted caps has proven itself - NOT to be confused with the SBC 350 Chevy (NOT the same animal).
I don't know the purpose of your question in this case, but noise from the SBC community gets all a twitter over 2 vs. 4 bolt comparisons using data/experience form the SBC to attempt to apply it to the LT5 by the same (number of main cap bolts) comparison...which is (arguably) irrelevant, no?

Agree, not much difference overall robustness between 2 bolt and 4 bolt motors. However there are several critical parts that do not interchange between both engines. Off the top of my head these include oil pan, oil suction pickup tube, oil pump, front cover, camshafts, camshaft chain sprocket index plates. I’m my case I’m already heavily invested in the 4 bolt persuasion for my car. It would take some compelling circumstances for me to consider going with a 2 bolt motor.

Ted its a 2 bolt.
If your interested i do have front cover and oil pan.
This is stock stroke should not have any issues.

Thanks Pete. No doubt the motor is right. I’d just want it to drop right in...cause it would eventually go back to stock.
Ted
Ted the motor is all together the way it came out of my car.
For the right price i'll sell it complete from heads to oil pan with the cams that are in it and tune, just bolt on your plenum/IH's and hold on to your boys :dancing
The only difference is the low oil sensor is on the opposite side just make a lil extension harness.

Oh, how this all began 4 me (drag racing - on occasion) was at the US 41 Dragway. I'd LOVE to be in the bleachers again at a Corvette Shootout and hear (again) when Pete lines up against one of theirs: "Oh, look! Some dude in a C4 has lined up against (one of our club's C5.6. or 7 whatever). This oughta be good!" :dancing.........:jawdrop:

I had some of this when I took mine out to the mile a few weeks after picking up from Pete. Just about everyone there was really surprised at how fast an old C4 was running.
