Pulled plenum on Christmas temp was in 60's. Two days later garage is smelling of gas bad. Fuel is dribbling ftom lines down windshield into cowl. ??? Temp had warmed 20 degrees and gas tank had pressurized. Note to self is loosen gas cap! I poured Dawn and hot water though the cowl to kill the stink. Let's all be safe.

Very interesting point!

Last summer on the Rocky Mountain Run, I bought gas at 10,000 feet w/ temps in high 70s. A couple hours or so was down in Castle Rock at ~ 5500 feet AMSL

My friend and co-pilot twisted off and opened the fill cap in one swift twist and lift motion w/o first letting the tank de-pressurize. He got a high octane bath:censored: - never saw anything like that before and it never happened since: just that one time!:confused:

Note to self: always loosen the gas cap and let it vent before taking it completely loose.

OH! Same goes for replacing the fuel filter. Loosen the gas cap first!

Ya might want to do it on an almost empty tank too?

Unscrewing the gas cap depressurizes the fuel system. U want to do that anytime u undo the fuel lines.
