View Full Version : Performance problems

I've noticed that over the last few weeks the performance of the forum has been pretty bad. It takes a while to load posts, to view the index, and takes forever when posting a new thread or reply.

I've seen this from various computers and networks (I have 5Mbs fiber at home). Has anyone else been noticing this?

Lucky you have fiber, I'm envious.

I've noticed what you are saying. I have Verizon phone line DSL thru AOL and I thought it was aol causing the trouble.....shows ya how much I know about this stuff!:o

I was thinking it was my aol browser so I got me firefox(?) by motzilla(?). That seems to have been a bit better. I was thinking that since aol did their shake up that maybe the tech section took a hit, hence the lousey performance? That and now verizon in my area is concentrating on their fiber they are letting their contract DSL slip so as to make users switch to their ISP w/fiber?

I wish I knew more about this stuff!

Whew!! i'm so glad to see that you're post was concerning
computer's... I was gonna suggest...pocket rocket's, (viagra)
or for Bryan...VIAGRA,

I too, have been having problems with my so called..cough..uh
high speed DSL from Centurytel.
I went so far as to buy a new software called webroot, which
helps get rid of all the crap that builds up on you're computer,
Webroot really works.
I also contacted my provider, and they explained that they indeed
were experiencing problems????
ActuallyI believe it was just Alienshttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/kmoudy/cartoons/ufo.gif

I had the same problem for a few weeks, had to go to favorites to log on. Works fine now for some reason. :icon_scra

Speed is good with RoadRunner cable and twice as fast with AT&T DSL (they finally got the hardware for us guys in the TX sticks). I'm using a G4 Mac with the Safari browser. I've not noticed any server degradation over the last few months.

TRY THE REFRESH ARROW -- OFTEN THE POST IS DONE ALREADY AND YOU CAN WAIT FOREVER-- THIS IS THE TRICK I USE WHEN THE POSTING IS VERY SLOW!!!

It still sucks. That's the main reason I'm more of a lurker than a participant. Who has time to sit and wait for your post to appear? I don't.

Try this. After you submit your post. Wait two seconds or so and then go back to the previous page and refresh it. Your post should be there. Works for me.

Yeah, I've started doing that too, after using the "quick reply" I just click on the path links at the top to take me back to the forum I was in. But it would be better if one didn't have to. :)

I just keep two windows open. One is for posting and the next one is for going back to the site to surf more.

Now that is what I call inventive!!!

I do have to say I have always thought this site was "slugglish" and as of late it is like a snail --- pehaps time for the powers to be to talk with the hosting service and tell them to get it together or maybe we will have to find a better host --- naturally that would be a big ordeal and I imagine we would loose all the history but is this something we have to put up with forever???

Inquiring minds wanna know???

What is wierd is that at times it is fine but at other times it is a real PITA!!!

Must be Internet Murphy!!!

:::::Testing post response time:::::

Firefox does not matter. This is getting frustrating. The initial post takes forever to go up. But if you edit the post and save it's instant.
