...I have...sorta. So, when I saw an article in a magazine by Cillian Zeal, relating a social media bit posted by a Corvette owner named Tom Nicholson that went viral two year ago, I had to chuckle;)

(Nicholson): “A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost,” Nicholson wrote.

“I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore,” ....

Not that long ago there was a local gas shortage - nothing like in the early 70s, but prices got up around $5.50+ for a gallon of regular in Chicago. Some stations temporarily ran out of regular - not many, but it happened.

So, I was at a station topping off my Z before going off on an adventure when this lady walks by me on her way to her 2001 Suburban(?), (something like) "A car like that must be a real gas hog!" she scoffed (over her shoulder).

As she is climbing in, I told her, "It gets 26+ mpg on cruise. What does your truck get?"

She didn't reply, but the expression of defeat on her face...priceless!:p

ZR-1s can get excellent gas mileage considering
their capability! On the same note, I've a friend with a
new C7, he knocks off 33mpg on hiway trips!
However, put the MPG readout on instant and
check out the mileage at WOT in 1st gear...
(better yet, watch where you're goin')
Permagrin wipes out any thoughts of MPG!!!
As for the shamers, well... screw 'em!
