Doing some research on fuel pump replacement and I see the 96 Chevy suburban fuel pump will work in a 91..

I can research it but, anyone know the correct part # for these? When I order these do they come with everything I need?

Never had a car that used two fuel pumps, or for that matter, had them mounted inside the gas tank......

Only fuel pump I ever changed was on my 73....

I just need to know exactly which parts I need.....

Thnx..

You may want to replace the “y” that connects the pumps to the feed line while you are there. Do a search on the “y” for more details. The original is plastic and is discontinued. It has a tendency to split from old age and gets brittle. My shop, CT Machining, machines a replacement “Y” out of billet aluminum which will not break nor leak. Contact me if you want to order one. Thanks, Carter

Isn't the part # 25163473 ? I'm guessing I should order 2 of these....

When I Google this part # it seems you can get these almost anywhere including Amazon..

I replaced my fuel pumps a while back. Not difficult compared to most jobs on these cars.
I was experiencing pressure bleed down after shut down. Isolated leak to the fuel sending/pump unit. I replaced the pumps because it appeared the leakage was related to the pump check valves. Come to find out, the plastic "Y" had a small crack in it and was the culprit.
The pumps are available from nearly all of the common sources. Marc Haibeck has a recommendation as to which one to use, so you might check this out. His recommendations on these cars are well documented as being correct.
When re-assembling, be sure and use hose that is designed for submerged applications. There are 2 different hose sizes in the assembly. 5/16" and 3/8". Use good quality stainless clamps and I would highly recommend using the "Y" that Carter supplies.
Here's a pic of what you will be looking at after rebuild.

RockAuto has a whole selection. You don’t need to spend a ton of money on these. I used the Precision Electric pumps. They seem to have a good reputation. Some people feel more comfortable with name brands that cost (a lot) more. But I’ve seen the Airtex and Delphi pumps go out just as easily. To each his own...
