Already planning for our next ZR-1 which most likely will be a 405 HP car. Having heard many different views on which seats are the best, I would like to get your opinions on the matter.
We love the seats in our 91, but would like to get a car with dual airbags since we will drive it a lot. I guess that leaves us to choose between a 94 or 95, am I right?
Other pros and cons on the 93's vs the 94-95's are welcomed.

I like my custom 94 seats.. they look like base but are full function sport seats..
so to ask which seats are better is like asking someone their favorite, beer, wine, or movie

I have a 93. I like the seats in the 93 over the big b-- seats of 94-95. I am 6ft and slim. The 93 seats will hold a slim person in better,
Just me being honest. but I think the 94-95 have the cheep'st looking seat of any corvette.
Also the 94-95 have a ECM that you can reprogram with out having to replace the PROM' I think i got that right. That part I think would probably be better than the 93. Good luck with your search.

If you fit in the earlier (90, 91-92, 93) seats they are great. The 94-96 aren't quite as snug, but still good and fit larger body types better.
GM was constantly making improvements to the Corvette over the model run (changes don't only occur at start of model year), so just looking at model year for changes doesn't guarantee anything. The later years (95 & 96) got the most improvements across the entire Corvette lineup. ZR-1 specific changes weren't as big honestly, and I'd take any year 91-95 myself (updated body), which is why I have a 91.

There were tons of measures introduced in 94 to control NVH. Mostly unseen, like industrial Velcro behind panels etc. The interior of the 94-95 for sure seems quieter and a little more refined than the earlier cars.

I like the 90-93seats. They let me know when I should stop eating.

I like the looks of the both the newer and older C4 seats. However, I do agree that the older seats hold the driver (and passenger) like a true race seat and I do think they are the best ever offered on a Corvette for holding a person in place.
I think the cheapest looking Corvette seats are reserved for the C6. The 2012/2013 redesign helped. I especially think cheap when looking at a black seat and seeing the vinyl sides.

When did the passenger side airbag come in the C4?

These conversations about ZR-1 seats always remind me of a very old article about the interior of some car in one of the car magazines of yesteryear.
It was true than, as it still is now.
When asked what he thought of the car's bucket seats, the response was simple.
"Very nice, except not everyone has the same size bucket".
So VERY true!

While they are comfortable, I found the recline motor of the 90-91 would make it uncomfortable on long drives. Also they really are not made to tall people either (or the car for that matter) I feel my base inspired sport seats are a good middle between the two

And don't forget to read the fine print before you sign. Half of what you own is no longer yours.

Nah, that award has to go to the C5 seats. Cheap looking, cheap feeling, and don't hold you in for crap (base or "sport" seat). The later 12/13 seats are actually pretty good, and probably the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a car, especially with the alcantera center inserts. If I ever need to replace my seats, I'd seriously think about doing a pair of 12/13 ZR1 logo seats.

I'm a skinny dude, so my 1991 seats wrap around me like a glove. And anyone who has ridden along with me always says how comfortable they are...

You know, when the C5 came out, I remember the big Corvette Quarterly C5 introduction book that came out. They tried to promote the whole C5 interior as upgrade over the C4 with its "soft nuanced" leather and "soft touch" pieces here and there.
I don't mean to be hard on any Corvette interior as I like all Corvettes, however, when the dust has settled, I don't look back on the C5 interior as "upgrade" over C4. At least the C4 interior came across as unique to Corvette and not a theme that seemed the same in ALL GM vehicles.
My thought is C5 interior was not the high investment area of the car...that the largest share of GM's investment went into frame and drivetrain.

First thing I thought when I bought my 01 Z06 was that the interior looked very similar to my Tahoe, which was not a good thing.

Could have been worse.
In 1976 they took the steering wheel from a Vega and put it into a Corvette.
How low can you go?
Not much lower than that.

I like my 93 sport seats much better than the 94 seats in the Z. so Much so that I will be switching them out. I wish I could have just used my 93 seats but they have a 40th emblem in them so I couldn't do a swap with my LT1 car. As much as I like the 93 seats better, the 94 interior looks more modern than the early interior and I feel the 94 seats do as well. That's a big reason why I haven't rushed to take the 94 seats out. I debated on opening them up and adding bolstering or just going aftermarket.
