The ZR-1 market is getting flooded with cars again.

How much flooding did NC get with Florence?

1 day and 6 hours left on auction
Bid currently at $17750 (watch the last hour or 2 of the auction...)
Probably the "nicest" ZR-1 to ever show up on BaT?
The NCRS guys might cringe, but it's got the right mods,
w/o overdoing it, to make it a great driver.
And... it's RED, we all know red one's are the fastest ones!

Nicest "take it out and drive it" car for sure. Fair market on that car right now (with the ZR-1 market down again) is about 23-25k. I'll be curious to see what it goes for in that venue.

The yellow Callaway was the highest selling C4 on there so far, at 49k. The next highest selling C4 was a 1900 mile 1990 for 28k, then a 22k mile 1990 for 26.5k (too much). In April there was an 11k mile 1990 that sold for 24k.

In 2017 a 1990 ZR-1 with 32k miles went for 16.5k.

Average price for the 10 ZR-1s that have sold on there (all less than 25k miles, most less than 15k) is 21.7k.

Isn't that Ron Wood's old car?

Mentions "Randy Woods" in the ad.

Yep I saw that car a handful of years ago in Randy's Garage (had a supercharger then)

Interested read on the blower project, guess it's a good example of why no one does it. Looks like it was a lot of hard work for not much gain, especially with what these cars will do with just top end porting and headers, or even better with a 391.

Having said that, if the car goes for anywhere close to current bid, it's going to be a steal. Wish I had the spare funds at the moment.

Wonder where the supercharger is?

Is this the car in the Super Chevy article that they “experimented” on?
If so, I’d have to take back my “nicest” comment.... still a nice car but...

Agreed. I think it's a significant omission to leave out that an engine that already has a compression ratio of 11:1 had a supercharger on it for some period of time. And according to the article was driven a decent distance with the supercharger and no intercooler or tuning/fuel enrichment...

Might have had more interest if it was still on there.
Not many like that, so the "cool" quotient of such a car would be high.

Somebody in the BaT "peanut gallery" asked about the
supercharger!
No answer from the seller yet...
A little over 5 hours left, last time I looked
the bid was at $19k.

Very true....I wonder why they took it off in the first place.....I mean, talk about rare....Don't know the first thing about tuning a Z with a supercharger ...I'm sure Marc or Dempsey would try there luck to it...

Just rechecked the listing.
The seller responded, but I think he's confused, doesn't really know or is covering up? He talked about a C6 ZR1 which is supercharged that
he owned before, but didn't really answer the question???

Perhaps they were concerned that it might be perceived as the "Little Old Lady from Pasadena's" 413 if it is the one.
You know "low mile" car with miles added 1/4 at a time.

Still, popping the hood to reveal an LT-5 Boat Motor with a Blower would have to cause a stir wherever it went, regardless of the relatively small HP add it delivered.
I for one, would find it neat!
Very unlike the 6,000 or so others.

FWIW: After the auction closed, the seller posted on BaT that Randy Wood, the person who did the supercharger work, told him this was not the same car. But, some photos of it (being identical to the article’s subject) were used in the Super Chevy article...

I was mistaken..

Here is some info from Randy, regarding the Corvette on BaT

Nov 2017:I'm actually putting my last Z up for sale this week, as I just dont have any free time for the hobby. Just pulled out of storage after 8 years, having owned it for 15 and only putting 1800 miles on it. No supercharger on this one. Kit was never offered....more of an R&D prototype to prove it could be done. Was never ready for the masses.
