I am looking for an either new blue glass targa top or a company that will repair/refurbish my current top which has all new weather stripping. I would hate to pay the $1,200-$1,500 for a new panel from some of the major Corvette parts distributors, but instead looking for the best buy and not brake the bank, especially for this particular project car. I checked a couple of sites while at Carlisle, but looking for others. I searched this site and thought there was something recent about this topic, but was unable to find it.

Thanks,

Joe,
John Glyder recently sent his top out to be reconditioned and was very happy with the results. Sure that John will post up shortly. Good to see you at Carlisle, your car is stunning!

Thanks Charlie, good to see you as well and thanks for the introduction to the C4 parts vendor. I will wait to hear from John or reach out to him shortly.

Hi Joe, I remembered the vendor. It is Melrose. John will confirm but I recall that he was very happy with the restoration they did on his top. He purchased the shipping box from them and sent in his damaged top and they turned it around quickly and with new rubber as well. Looks brand new.

Joe, I also got a transparent top from Melrose. The one that came with my '95 was a non-GM replacement made of Lexan which delaminated. Melrose uses GM frames and glass (polycarbonate I think but not sure). They were good to deal with. BTW I saved a fair mount off the list price of $825 by bringing my old top to him/picking up new top and paying cash. --Bob

I copied the link and think I will get the rear hatch weather strip from them. My 96 didn't have a transparent top and I purchased one from Thompson Astro Tops. After 3 or 4 years the top separated. They only have a 1 year warranty. I did wonder if I caused the failure as you have to adjust the mounting plates to fit your car. It always went on easy without any trouble so I assumed I had it adjusted correctly. Anybody use Thompson or have had a problem with their tops? I did see them or somebody selling their tops at Carlisle and their display doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I have used Thompson, and found them to be very good.
I have used Melrose, and found them to be excellent.
If the choice is mine; I go Melrose first, then Thompson as first runner up.

I received my top from Melrose yesterday and I am very pleased with the reconditioning. Reinstalled this evening. One more item checked off the list.
