ZR-1 facts?

About to have a info A board made up to take to car shows to inform people about the ZR-1. Can someone please let me know how long the C4 ZR-1 held the world endurance speed record for. Want the info to be correct, that’s all.

If u want to consider any “production” vehicle, the ZR-1 still holds the record.

I thought that was the case regarding (mass produced, production vehicle) but needed confirmation. I didn’t want to claim something that wasn’t true.
Does that mean current model cars that are capable of higher top speeds have not been put the same test for the record ?

It is argued that the VW that broke the record was not a true production car and was purpose built to break the record. Only one was built. It only broke the 24hr records not the longer ones. To my knowledge there has been no attempt to break the records since.

I had not read the above linked thread before, but read though some of the posts until I got to the one which claims I was one of the drivers.

I was there but certainly not as a driver.

At this point in time there are few if any production cars which could break the current record, 200.67-mph. And even if there was a production car which could average 200+ mph for 24-hrs there are two other major challenges:
1) Cost. It would take a tremendous amount of money to fund such a record attempt.

2) Venue. Currently, there are very few facilities in the world which would be suitable for running 24-hrs at over 200-mph safely.
