Are you sure. My black 90 that has been NCRS judged by previous owner with 750 miles has one. I had a new regular 90 in 1990 and I seem to remember it having one. Who knows, I could be wrong.

My 1990 didn't have with an insert either when I bought it - just the ash tray. But honestly, it seems wrong, as it is easy for stuff to fall through the hole when the tray is open and the console bezel screw is showing. So I bought a couple of the liners from corvette central. They are really flimsy but get the job done.

I was also missing those little triangle inserts for the seat position switches, which made me think the cup holder liner was also lost to time and neglect.

They ALL had them. They were easy to get lost. If you ever drank a 12 oz can of soda or your favorite adult beverage they tended to stick to the can. If you forgot and threw the can away there goes the can condom in the trash. As big John stated any maintenance Work especially removing the shift console plate they tend to get lost. They hide the screw and are great for coins. They should have been in every C4 at delivery the entire ZR-1 model year run

The screw is in the forward “hole” where the ashtray insert should go,
placing it closer to the cigarette lighter.
New cars have neither.

Nobody doubts you didn't get one. However these are soft goods and dealer prep items. Just like the console book, floor mats, demo cassettes and yes the rubber console cup. It was up to each dealer to make sure these went with every new sale. Sometimes THAT does not happen. However it was Susposed to have one. GC

Daryll...…. I think you have the correct Description of the "Cup Holder" issue :thumbsup::handshak:

Without the cup rubber insert the "cup holder" definitely looks incomplete and loose change would definitely find its way under the console as I have observed many times when removing the console. I forget which "cup holder" contains the cigarette holder which cigarette holder I always replace with the rubber cup holder insert.

And you are also correct as I have tossed several soda cans with the rubber cup holder attached :p

When you install it and use it as it was meant to be used you will quickly see why I call it what I call it. It fits like a glove to the bottom lol :)

Normally the triangle inserts.. called light covers by GM were easily vacuumed up by folks cleaning up the console area. Trying to get dirt and grime out of those voids lines along by sides of the switches. If you are not doing the cleaning nobody is going to stop to pull the vacuum bag for recovery. When I bought my 90 it was missing the light covers as well.

I found the cup holder to be useless with a stick shift, and the ash tray was uselessness. Better off opening the window!
