Holy crap...! Just caught this on EBay. Jerry I hope your project is going well. At this price we are pricing the Z out of existence!

Hans,

And the issue isn’t even the economic one. The supply is finite which would utlimately render our cars undriveable.

It will be interesting to see if it actually sells at that price...

Well, thank heaven they are so robust! But, with that said, I'm hard pressed to find a better reason to bypass coolant around the TB.

I would think that as often as ZR-1s are totaled or otherwise parted out that there would be/is an adequate supply of DIS modules. Especially if they are compatible for ALL '90-'95 Zs and the DIS failures are so rare

Same would go for ECM failures.

The ECMs are much easier to get at which may contribute to their availability also.

The Fuel Pressure Regulators are rare also and as corroded as the tops are internally in some cases I expect to see more Fuel Pressure Regulator Failures (Who is to say this does not contribute to Injector Failures way too early).

I have 4 or 5 extra Fuel Pressure Regulators having five originals converted by Phil which replacement cores are now easy to obtain on Ebay for $30 or less and easy to install (5 minutes). My injectors may now last forever :D

Also have 3 or 4 extra ECMs and a couple extra DIS which if we keep everyone thinking they are like gold :p:p

From your lips to .... ;)

Geez, I would be tempted to sell mine if someone will pay that. I thought we all had one of these NOS stashed away? LOL!

Thats crazy pricing... I wish I could find one at a reasonable price along with an ECM just in case...

I usually sold the DIS modules with engines but I have parted a few motors and sold about 3 DIS modules years ago.for about $500 a piece.

Should have held on to them.

Seems more failures are happening now.

I think I figured out your logic......you are saying that TB coolant makes the Plenum hotter and as such effects the DIS? Which normally the Plenum runs cooler by the intake cool air. That is an interesting point :handshak:

While it is true that the DIS module sheds heat to the plenum, coolant running through the throttle body has no affect on the temperature of the rear of the plenum where the DIS module is located.

If I was worried about the DIS module condition, I'd get the plenum off, remove the module and clean it off top and bottom. Then I'd make sure all the pins of its 14-pin connector and its two 3-pin connectors are clean.

Then, I'd clean the mounting surface on the plenum. Once that and the module mounting surfaces are clean then I'd apply the dielectric grease per the Factory Service Module. Finally, I'd reinstall the module.

Before setting the plenum back in place, I'd look at the connectors at the ends of the DIS harness and make sure all their pins are clean.

I concur as I figured that TB coolant flow was a relatively small heat source just enough to keep the TB from icing in cold weather.... Thanks for the DIS reconditioning update

Can I use that? “Temporary Posts” I love it.

Ha, ha....yes you are a parts hoarder. You need PHA (Parts Hoarders Anonymous) treatment; there might even be a group here for that...lol.
