The high-water mark for Chevrolet’s (http://autoweek.com/vehicles/Chevrolet) fourth-generation Corvette (http://autoweek.com/vehicles/Chevrolet/Corvette) is undoubtedly the ZR-1. Starting originally as an option package for the third-gen ‘Vette, Chevy turned it into its own variant of the C4. The C4 ZR-1 was powered by a trick DOHC 5.7-liter V8 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvette_%28C4%29#ZR-1_%281990%E2%80%931995%29) that made a healthy 370 hp. Writer James D. Sawyer mentions his experience with French roads and pushing the ‘Vettes space saver spare to its limits.
