I’m in. Plan to trailer the car the 1100 miles. (The pickup is more comfy, for long trips than the Z) Working hard to get my engine back in and fully functional in time for this. I lived in the area for 5 years. Great mountain driving out there. Looking forward to it!

Make sure your cooling system is in tip-top condition. Pulling on the steeper grades at lower speeds will tax the cooling system. Those traveling from locations east of CO, will likely travel on I70. Crossing KS & Eastern CO is 300 miles of plains. At interstate speeds ambient air temps of 100F+ should be expected but not a problem.

I never lived in CO, but have been there many, many times from the time I was a young boy. Love the Rockies, kinda of humbles you to consider your place in the grand scheme of things & the air is so crisp & clean in the early morning.

I will be there. This will be a fun event and a chance to hang out with some ZR-1 owners that I haven't met before.

Several people with Colorado experience are designing routes for us to try out and we should be able to get plenty of drive time and some time to relax.

I will joining the RMR after 30 days on a ZR-1 Road Trip to Glacier National Park and the West Coast of Canada.

Just to get you in the correct frame of mind, here is a pic from 2015 when Lyndi and I were in the Rockies:

Hi Dennis!

Glad you are coming! Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I just got off the phone with the Lady Luck Hotel/Casino.
"We're having computer issues, so just call us at (303)998-7777

I grew up in Southwestern Kansas and our usual family summer vacation was to the Cañon City area to visit relatives. Day trip to the Royal Gorge bridge was always the highlight. During one trip in the mid sixties my cousins were hiking ahead and stopped to throw a few rocks down into the gorge as young boys are prone to do. One of them managed to heave a small bolder down which ended up busting the large wooden stave water pipeline that supplies Cañon City. As you can imagine this caused a huge commotion. Made all the newspapers in the region with my cousin’s name prominently mentioned as the kid perpetrator. He received a good scolding from the local sharif but nothing more happened to him. Apparently this had happened before.

So, what is the scoop with this bridge?

Steve, The Royal Gorge Bridge was open to traffic to cross the gorge years ago, but recently it has been closed to traffic. BUT, groups can make special arrangements to drive across the bridge before the park opens for general visiting.

I figured that the Rocky Mountain Run would be a good time to get the chance to drive on the bridge.

Very nice! So sorry I was unable to join today. Left my house this morning and two blocks away the Z just quit. Won’t start again. Battery is brand new. Car has been driving fine this past week. Searching the forum, it looks like maybe it’s the fuel pump. Swapped the primary for the secondary wire and tried again. Nothing. Since when do both pumps fail? Applying 12 volts direct to the pumps doesn’t seem to turn them on. Time for some new ones I guess. Service records show they were replaced in 2012. Shouldn’t they last longer than that? Anyways, hope there is another Rocky Mountain Run to participate in. So many awesome places here for the King to roam.

The wedding was actually really cool and all 200 or so of us had fun! So it was worth it.

At any rate, let me know if I can be of any assistance again next year. I will be happy to help in anyway possible.
