I took my 91 in to get oil change / spark plugs changed. When my mechanic calls back and says there no manifolds bolts, just the manifold bolts stud.....so looking at Jerry's Gaskets I see that GM didn't place any bolts on the 90 - 92s, just the 93-95s......so my question is are hey needed on my stock 91??

There is only one stud per side. The rest are bolts (with sleeves). Likely your mechanic is confused by the fact that not all the bolt holes contained bolts from the factory. Typically only 8-10 bolts (16 holes) were used per side. Both my 90’s had bolts.

That's not quite right.... GM DID place bolts on the 90~92, 6 bolts, in addition to the single stud/nut.
Looking at the diagram, you will notice that there were 6 bolts in addition to the stud/nut on 90~92 models. The rest of the holes were empty.
93~95 models omitted the stud/nut and added 2 more bolts (1 on each side of where the stud/nut was on the 90~92 models, bringing the total to 8 bolts.

:cheers:Thanks....that's what I was getting from Jerry's info on his site. So would it be stupid to put bolts in those holes? I know down the road I will do headers, which would require all the bolts.

When I installed my SW headers, I put all but one (bolts) and one stud nut on. Running copper gaskets. 2 years since install. No leaks..
