View Full Version : Is there a "fast" list?
Been poking around a bit, and haven't found anything. Is there a list of ZR-1 quarter mile times? Something like a top 10 list?
Here's the C5 Zo6 list as an example:

Not that I'm aware of. That's quite a comprehensive list.

They're quite fast, those Z06's.

I guess w the LT5 we don’t tend to focus as much on 1/4 times. Pete’s stock block 5.7L cammed and ported 91 is one I would point to w 11.0s in 1/4
and 154mph in standing 1/2 mile. All NA.

This The ZR-1 (LT5) was not focused on 1/4 when designed, It was built for the long run and durability.

Yes like the only production car to run 24hrs. at an average of 175+mph.
I recall running a yellow C5Z at Byron w my Aqua 92ZR. I was 2 lengths behind at the 1/8, and 2 lengths ahead at the 1/4. Driver came over later to find out what I had done to my C4.

Impressive 1/4 mile list/times. But, as Dom point out, the LT5 is just getting warmed up at the 1/4 mile mark. Over the 7 or so years* the local Crown Point Corvette Club held their annual Corvette Shootout, the "FBI club" here in N. IL has taken home the team trophy over 1/2 of the time for the fastest agg. of the top 3 cars!
Not a 1/4 miler per se', but no slouch and a rather a long-legged animal for sure!
*The 2016 team trophy (Dominic posing w/ it) AND the fastest mph run AND the lowest ET were all won by Kevin (green shirt, middle) FBI cars. And, also pic of the team trophy by itself won in 2014. (I have other pix of the trophy, but you get the idea...)

Be careful, you may get excluded from the event. I'm sure you FBI guys embarrass a lot of people.

Funny you should mention that. That came up at the last FBI Pizza Night. The event was (reported) cancelled for 2017 "due to insurance issues". (Say WHAT?)
And, repeated emails to their CPCC president, inquiring about this year's event have gone unanswered. Hmmmmmm.......
We'll see what happens next.
I made a couple passes in mine last Sunday, and I was wondering how I compared to other ZR-1's and their drivers. The list seemed like a good way to find that out.

I think at one time, (!5-20yrs. ago) there was a performance list put together
of the members, and it was very interesting. Generally, it shook out like this:
Bone stock ZR-1's = 13.30's to the 12.90's at around 105 to 110mph.
Stock Motor, lots of boltons,(headers, Tires, exhaust, etc.)= Down to 11.80's, 118-120mph. depending on M/Y and equipment.
Stock block, but top-end mods, porting, cams.= 12.00's down to 11.00's
Strokers, Big Inch motors N/A= 11.00's- down to low tens.
Power Adders, NOS, Turbos.= Nines, and below.
Within those ranges, a wide diversity depending on Track, conditions, driver ability.
Best Time?

I remember that in the early years with my '93 Quasar and while it was still essentially stock I ran a 13.2 at 107 mph at Beech Bend. In my Polo '95 with his 510 package and 4.10s, Marc ran 12.4 at 116 without power shifting. I ran a little slower in it. By comparison, in about 1970 with my stock '68 Hemi Roadrunner I ran 13.5 at 105 at Lions in Southern California. Ah, the good old days, when you could tune by smelling and seeing the exhaust!--Bob
