New owner--1990 ZR-1 #1266

I am a new member and this is my first post.

Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about the history of my 1990 ZR-1: #1266, Polo Green/Saddle, 15,500 miles (when purchased). I bought the car in New Jersey from a Chevydealer about a year ago. Runs great, fast, seems all original based on my limited knowledge (other than tires), very few issues (small battery drain, radio has no sound, seat bladders need repair, etc.).

Unfortunately, the windshield partially shattered last week. Purchased a new OEM equivalent windshield and weather seal from David at ZR-1 Windshields in Maryland. Marty at Conte's Corvettes & Classics in New Jersey will install the windshield shortly. Both of these guys are very knowledgeable and I thank them for the advice.

Anyway, if you know anything about the history of my ZR-1, or can point me in the right direction to track down the history, please let me know.

Try CarFax and from the NCM get a copy of your car’s Window Sticker. Go back to the dealership where you bought it to see if they have a record of the prior owner. The trail starts there... Good Luck.

What part of NJ are you from? I remember looking at that car it was right down the street from me. I thought they gave me a copy of the carfax but I can't seem to find it. I love that color combo.

Have the Carfax--other than clean title and no accidents, it really did not show much else. I am in Middletown NJ, but bought the car at Lucas Chevrolet in Lumberton, NJ. They provided me with the window sticker, owner’s manual and that’s about it. I was told that the owner of the dealership kept the car as a personal vehicle in his garage with little use for a few years before deciding to sell. The salesman said that the owner bought it at auction--not sure if that is a bad thing. I requested additional details from the dealership but never heard back.

The car is in great shape. I have not had the time to fix the radio, but as part of the purchase the dealer said that they would pay for it to be repaired.

I will give vincheckup.com a shot as suggested.

Oh ok I'm in Medford not too far. I noticed the other day they have another 90 there for sale. The owner probably has a personal collection.

Sounds like it doesn’t it. They are a group of Z owners based largely in the Virginia, Maryland, DC area but have members from all along the mid-Atlantic states. The OP is in New Jersey, he certainly qualifies.

I saw that. I’m sure that will have its own challenges with these cars. Have you contacted our other Norway member, he goes by the screen name “S.hafsmo” ? He has already done considerable work on his car.
