Holy Crap Glen!! What a hoot that must have been. Nice run sir! In Texas I don't think we've got anything that straight and smooth enough to set this up. Not to mention we seem to have these things called Deer and Armadillo's all over the place that can make a mess when they jump out in front of you.. Good stuff. Engine and trans sound super :salute:

Holy crap is right!!!! Luv the shift light location. Hope those tires are new otherwise it’s lights out with those trees on either side if one blows. Looks like great fun.

That was absolutely AWESOME, Glen!
Thank you for the videos.
Your car sounded great and was very stable.
This is an event perfect for our cars:
Torque/HP and aerodynamic.

I have done this on smooth (sometimes)
and wide runways. This was NARROW!
No doubt, you have kahunas! As said
before, good, new tires are safety #1.
And a trick for next time: Shift into 6th
when you are done to slow down. Then
brake and downshift.

The Mojave Magnum (1.5 miles) is this
coming weekend. I'm missing it for
various reasons. Your videos make that
even more sad. :-(

TedHi Ted this was my first attempt at this sort of event if you have any suggestions on how to get more speed that would be great I was running 40psi in my tires I also made defuser for the back of the car you can see the exhaust sticking thought as well

3.45 gears?Yes standard diff gears 3.45 I think going to 3.07 might help get a little more speed

Yes standard diff gears 3.45 I think going to 3.07 might help get a little more speed

Only if you have an engine big enough to pull your car at high speeds with these gears. There is a "sweet spot"
matching your engine and gears to achieve the result you want, in this case top speed. Even transmission
gear ratios can be changed. Obviously, depends on how deep you want to get into this (& $$).

That diffuser is AWESOME! In place of the spare?

This is the ultimate, I believe: Dave (Daves Obsession), from Texas has a ZR-1 Bonneville car he talks about:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c4-zr-1-discussion/2168183-my-bonneville-project-up-date.html
Lots you can learn from this.

You can surely get hooked on this kind of racing.

Glen, was the 1/4 mile timed? Without doing the math, I'm guessing about 4 seconds.

So, what was your 1/4 mile time?

Extra cubic inches helps the top end. I did 168 this past year in a standing mile and that was with my gas pedal breaking during my shift into 4th gear. It broke the lever attaching to the floor and fell off sideways on the floor board next to the brake pedal. Hopefully this year I'll get a chance to see how fast we can go without a "problem". That was a little scary when it happened as I didn't know what it was until I finished and could look down.

Glen,
It was great to talk with you. Glad you called. Your ZR-1 is indeed running great and is obviously driven quite well too, 1/4 mile drags and top speed both! We are all proud of you for showing how the ZR-1 performs with a very stock engine, just what it was designed to do.

Best part is you had lots of fun :-)

We had 3 runs, but my gas pedal mount broke during the first run. I had to fix my car, so wasn't able to do the next two runs.

A good idea to look at it, see http://www.uniquecutting.com/products/
for an aluminum replacement to the plastic piece.

Yes, I'll have chance to run the mile again late this summer at the SORC.
I'll let you know how it goes :-)
My daughter and I run this event together. It's a lot of fun for us.
