hi guys,i always see the 4 and the 32 painted red on the plenum covers. is there a number kit made for this or is it just good old fashioned paint, brush and a very steady hand? i know on my lt-1 i got an acrilyc lettering kit in red from mid-america, but i cant find anything for the z. anyone out there done this and can give me a few pointers? thanks!

I used a small brush I stole from wifey's hobby drawer and used bright red and black acrylic paint. Once it dried I put on a coat of clear just to make it sparkle and shine.

Hi Chris. I'm another Missouri guy ... about an hour south of you in Lees Summit. There are several other Z owners in the KC area as well.

I bought the "testor's" hobby model pens. They came in a three pack. I shaved down the tip of the pen a little to fit. I just re-did mine in all black and they look preety good...they haven't run either on a hot engine luckily. I also used a little bit of laquer thinner on a "tShirt" and went arount the endges ofthe letters to clean them up. It is important to use a "tShirt" material because a towel or rag will get down into the lettering. Good luck!

Thanks, Keith. Oh, how I wish I could attend. My Z has never even been out of the state since it was new. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this year. My nephew is getting married that weekend and I will be attending the wedding. Same story last year, except it was me that was getting married. Couldn't seem to convince the wife that BG would be a great honeymoon spot. Oh well, maybe next year.

I've been fortunate so far ... no problems with the Z. So, I've just kind of been keeping my ears open for someone that works on these things when they break. Hopefully, I can handle some of it myself. But, like you, I'd sure like to have a ZR1 mechanic on stand by. Maybe Charlie or one of the other long time ZR1ers could chime in with better info.
