Several have mentioned they are using Z06 cats with their header setup. Can someone post a photo or two of how that installation looks. I happen to have a set sitting here and am contemplating doing the install.

I did this with a set of modified Stainless Works headers. They worked great.

Will you be doing your own exhaust work? If not, some places won't install used cats.

Are these better for emissions or flow or ?

As I understand it, they are much more heavy duty and not as fragile as aftermarket cats. Flow is supposedly great. I want to see how they were cut and welded in place. I have a guy that does excellent welding. Not my forte...

I was looking at this today. With Watson headers it will be rather tight. If I can find a place to weld some ends to my C6Z06 cats then I think Have a way to make them fit

I emailed Marc Haibeck as I had a couple questions about that myself.. I specifically asked the ifference between the Z06 Cats and the Magnaflow 59959 cats (which I currently have)

here is what he said:
The Magnaflow metallic cats probably flow as well or maybe a little better than the ceramic Z06 cats. I would imagine that the Z06 cats would perform better on an emissions test.

I am debating the Z06 cats, but there is much more work to get them installed. my Magnaflow cats are on the car, I know they fit and I will have less mods to make when I install my LT4 catback.

I am not selling the corsa or ditching it completely yet, I want to hear how this set-up sounds

I used 3" split pipe clamp on connections from the SW performance connect kit. The LS7 cats were slightly angled inboard from full length Watson headers to fit the tunnel. They would fit better on the short OBX headers, but They ran great and had no unburned hydrocarbon smell or any issues with burning the floorboards. I was able to fit them withing the confines of the factory heat shielding (if just barely).

I lost all the photobucket pics- give me time to redo that.

mike I have pictures you sent me. I will probable switch to Z06 cats, but want to get my exhaust fitted first

Will do. Haven’t decided if I’m going that route yet. I’m waiting till the tuning is done to see how much of the smell remains. Also the hassle of cutting and fabricating vs just buying a set of new Mangaflows. I can sell the set of Z06 manifolds and cats for $400-500 and cover the cost that way. Not sure yet.

Hmm, really? Is there a demand for them?

Yup, it’s a popular option for CA and guys in some other states with LS2 and LS3 engines to upgrade the exhaust. Cheaper than CA compliant headers and makes good power.

So maybe I shouldn't cut mine up? I got them for a killer deal with maybe 4K miles..

I think they might work better than aftermarket cats though

I still think the new stainless Magna flow and/or the Random Tech Hi flow cats vs used Z06 would be the better way to go. This is kinda why I asked do they flow better or get a lower emission result? GC

Hans that may be true but I think the real reason is the CARB complaint replacement cats are HUGE like what you would expect to see attached to a high quality Dodge Diplomat or 80s era Cadillac vs. a Nibble Vett

Hans,

You decide your direction for cats? I ended up keeping my Magnaflow cats on the car. I installed the LT4 catback yesterday and while I have a couple minor things to correct, the way I cut the pipes to make it fit worked out well

I decided on Magnaflows as well. Have them sitting here waiting till the engine swap is done. Also decided on the secondary delete. Pulled the old engine yesterday. Moving right along with the project.

since you have the motors out.. could you get me a couple pictures of that plate that comes loose. Lower front passenger side..

I still have an oil leak I would like to track down, I believe it is coming from the front or the front right of the motor

Yeah that’s fun to get to with the motor in the car. Remove the K members and nut from the engine mounts. Raise the engine with a jack an inch or more. You can just get in there to tighten the cover bolts. Good time check the engine mounts as well.
Here’s some pix.
