Happy new year from Pepmeier Engine Development.
Over the years, we've developed several unique aftermarket performance parts specifically for the LT5. From billet cams, heavy duty cam chains, main bearing and perimeter studs and so on. Our parts are aimed at the very highest performance extreme LT5 applications. We've supplied Bonneville racers and European hillclimb competitors, and several racers in between.
I'd like to hear from this community what are your ideas for the next extreme performance components for the LT5? I've got the following items in early-to-mid stage design, waiting interest to finish. But I'd like to know what's next?
Fully standalone motorsport ECU - semi-plug n play. Alternative to MSIII. This would have to be a group effort, as the up front cost is not insignificant. I've got a prototype on the test stand right now, but not plug n play.
custom oversize cylinder liners -- ductile iron 4.125 bore
replacement aluminum cylinder liners, Nikasil coated 4.000 bore max
studs - camshaft cover to cylinder heads
From my perspective, an affordable fabricated intake manifold solution would be desirable. The OE setup can be ported to flow well, however, it is tuned to 6000 rpm, and has a rather convoluted flow path. Any 3d printing experts out there?
The OE throttle body is a restriction at 700 bhp. I've considered fabricating an alternative big oval configuration.
crankcase breathing on the LT5 is pretty ineffective at 7000 rpm. I'd love to develop an affordable dry sump OR vacuum pump working off the stock serpentine drive system.
I'll leave the OE replacement market to Jerry and Marc. There are a lot of hard to find parts, and those guys are doing great keeping it alive.
What else would you guys like to see?
